  • Episode Description
  • Steve came up with a device to use to change the channel on the television without getting up, but when he realizes that there's already such a thing, it spurs him to try and create a unique invention following the slogan of "try again." When Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper want to eat peanut butter and jelly on bread together, Steve's excited at his solution, only to realize that the "sandwich" already exists. We come across Shovel and Pail and play an invention game. We take a look at pictures of inventions and identify the order in which they were invented. Later, we skiddoo into an invention factory, where we take a look at some famous inventions such as a train and a car.moreless

    • Steve: I think I'll call this invention "rag."

    • Steve: Okay, so we'll draw the notebook in the notebook.

    • Steve: I'll just try again because that's our motto.

    Notes (4)

    • Steve's pocket protector-like notebook-holder is never seen again.

    • First time there's a clue before Steve does the "To Play Blue's Clues" song.

    • This is at least the second time that Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper can't figure out how to make a sandwich.

    • Mailtime Segment: Mailbox talks about how he invented his extendo-arm, which is what he uses to pop inside the house to deliver the letter. In the letter itself, three kids talk about their favorite inventions. One of them likes the umbrella because it keeps you dry. Another likes googles because they let you see underwater and a final one likes using a flashlight to read at night.
