  • The episode starts out with Steve looking for Joe. Blue has something she wants to give to Joe, but first Steve and Blue have to find him. Steve and Joe end up in a back and forth hide-and-seek game, with both of them looking for each other inside and outside, until finally they meet up outside. This episode is all about Joe playing his first game of Blue's Clues, in which he tries to find out what it is that Blue wants to give him. He also gets to do his very first skidoo, into a picture of colored shapes, where, he Joe and Blue play another hide-and-seek game, but this time using distance comparisons to find the shape where someone is hiding.moreless

    • "Joe Gets a Clue" is the second of two episodes on the video "Meet Joe!"

    • Throughout the episode, Joe speculates on what it is that Blue might want to give him, a task which is normally left to the audience.

    • This episode was the second of three episodes designed to introduce the Joe character and shown during primetime.

    • Joe and Steve sing the "Figured It Out" song together at the end of the show. Also, beginning with this episode, the lyric "My dog, Blue" in the "So Long Song" is changed to "our friend, Blue."

    • Mailtime Segment: A clue named Kierstin creates her own Blue's Clues type game called "Kierstin's Clues" She uses blue paper handprints for the clue emblem and has her sister find them. The correct answer for her game is naptime.

    Trivia (1)

    • The name of Kierstin Carroll, one of Steve's Friends who appears in the Mailtime segment, is spelled incorrectly as Kirsten on close-captioning throughout that segment.
