  • show Description
  • Bone Chillers is about four freshmen at Edgar Allan Poe High School, who not only have to deal with the normal pressures of competing with the cool kids and the jocks, but also have to contend with all sorts of weird happenings. Like the similar series "Goosebumps", it was based on a series of children's horror books, but in this case the stories that were originally about different people in each book were all changed to the setting of a haunted high school so as to provide a continuing cast. Assisting the main characters was Arnie the custodian, who lived in the school's basement. There was the feared cook of the school, Carl, the ditzy Miss Dewberry, and the evil Principal Pussman. At the end of each episode, original author Betsy Haynes would appear in an educational segment encouraging young viewers to exercise their imaginations.moreless

    • (after the Gladiator destroys the monsters) Brian: I'm not cleaning this place up alone. (Random balloon falls, and Brian faints.)

    • Fitz: Does everything drawn in this book come to life or not?! Brian: I'm hoping for the 'or not'.

    • Sarah: The story of my life: The only one who wishes a happy birthday to me is a beast from hell.

    • (Brian spills ink on Fitz's paper) Fitz: Now how am I going to make Sarah's birthday card without any paper? Brian: Well, there's this great new concept sweeping the nation. It's called 'going out and buying some more'. You should try it.

    • Lexi: Fitz, maybe you could draw up a birthday card, and we could all sign it? Fitz: Sure. Lexi: And no creepo monster cards. Fitz: (innocently) Moi?

    • Arnie: What's the matter? You guys got frogs in your throats? Fitz: Worse, Mr. Batrachian ate frog eggs contaminated with toxic waste and he's turning into a giant frog. Brian: And he's groovin' for Miss Dewberry. Arnie: I overheard Mr. Batrachian talking to Miss Dewberry. He's going to make her a home-cooked meal in the science lab. Sarah: Make her a home-cooked meal, or make her a home-cooked meal?

    • Brian: (about the toxic frog eggs) That is totally toxic.

    • Principal Pussman: I'm sorry to hear that you're green around the gills, Mr. Batrachian. Do you know what could've caused it? Mr. Batrachian: It must've been... (looks at Fitz and Brian as they walk by) something I ate.

    Trivia (1)

    • Miss Webb tells Fitz to eat ketchup instead of mustard because it's healthier. That is incorrect; mustard has less sugar, sodium, and carbohydrates, making it healthier than ketchup.
