Michelle: The key to getting along with Carl's parents—
Boo: Is to be myself.
Michelle: What are you, high? No. The trick is to be whoever it is you think they want you to be.
Michelle: And to say whatever it is you think they want you to say. Trust me, it's the only way.
Boo: So, don't be myself.
Boo: Well, that's good, because I really don't know who I am.
Michelle: Let's see. Meeting the parents. Well, Boo, my first piece of advice would be, "Don't go."
Boo: I have to.
Michelle: Oh. Well, then, my second piece of advice would be, "Don't go."
Boo: I have to.
Michelle: Oh. Well, then, my third, fourth and fifth piece of advice would be—
Boo: I got it, thanks.
Michelle: Look, Truly, focus for me here. You're behind on your rent. You don't have a lease. This is not good.
Truly: I know. It's very bad. I tried to talk to my landlady about it, but she's not answering my phone calls, and I can't get an appointment until March.
Michelle: So you want to leave your stuff here for a while?
Truly: Can I? I just need some time to think and regroup and figure out how I'm gonna come up with an extra $1,200 a month.
Michelle: Absolutely. I have a little room in my armoire. we'll hang 'em up nice, and we'll figure this out.
Michelle: (picks up a dress) This is really cute. I love the color. How much is this?
Truly: Twelve hundred dollars a month?
Michelle: (folds the dress back up) Let me think about it.
Sasha: (sees Melanie reading a book) Melanie? Are you well?
Melanie: (still reading) Yes.
Ginny: She fell behind in her summer reading list for school.
Melanie: And the books aren't helping. I'm halfway through this thing, and the stupid whale hasn't even shown up yet.
Sasha: There's no whale in the Great Gatsby.
Melanie: Are you joking? Where the hell is this stinker going if there's no whale?
Sasha: Many's a night F. Scott pondered that very same question.

Michelle: Did you just see Katniss run by?
Truly: Oh, with the bow and arrow?
Katniss is a character from the series The Hunger Games written by Suzanne Collins. She used the bow to hunt illegally at home in District 12, and during the Games it was her weapon.
Melanie: I'm halfway through this thing, and the stupid whale hasn't even shown up yet.
Melanie mixed up her classics. Herman Melville's Moby Dick contains the titular whale. Fitzgerald's Gatsby has a doomed couple, not the doomed ship.
