Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-NY, said no effort will succeed unless tax increases and cuts to entitle programs are developed. Senate Minority Leader House Republican Whip Kevin McCarthy said Republicans are talking about a new stopgap bill to fund the government for two to four weeks. The government is operating now on a stopgap bill that funds the government through March 18. 7:45-8:30 REP. SHEILA JACKSON LEE D-Texas Homeland Security Committee Member Topic: Her views on today'?s House Homeland Security Committee hearing on '?The Extent of Radicalization in the American Muslim Community and that Community's Response.'? The Committee'?s Democratic Ranking member, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) has asked Homeland Security Chairman Peter King (R-NY) to '?broaden the scope'? of his '?examination of ideological- based violence.'?
