  • Trivia & Quotes
  • Quotes (3)

    • Hank: I've been snipped, vasectomised, had my testes done. Janie: Wow. That is some excellent foreplay.

    • Hank: (Looking at a painting) Ah! Look at this monstrosity. Janie: I like this one. Hank: You do? Janie: Yeah, that's how I feel. Hank: What's that? Alienated, nauseous, culturally dispossessed? Janie: No. Horny.

    • Marcy: I need to 'fess up, ok, it's part of the process. There was just a little bit of tongue.

    Allusions (3)

    • Hank: He throws these huge parties and these people come and they drink his booze and they act like they're his friends...guest of honor never shows. Hanks' metaphor is in reference to Jay Gatsby, the title character of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. In the novel, Gatsby throws extravagant house parties to attract the woman with whom he is in love, but she does not attend.

    • Daisy: (to Charlie) And all week long I've kind of felt special, you know, like one of those girls in the movies who works in an Devil Wears Prada or something. The Devil Wears Prada is a 2006 movie about a young college graduate, played by Anne Hathaway, who takes a job as a personal assistant in New York City. Her boss, played by Meryl Streep, is a demanding editor at a top fashion magazine.

    • Hank: Yeah, you're gonna be stronger in the places that are broken. Like Hemingway said. The book Hank is alluding to is A Farewell To Arms by Ernest Hemingway, although the actual quote from the book is, "many are strong at the broken places".
