The Perfect Son was another riveting episode and I could not tear myself away from my television until the final scene.
This episode was absolutely one of the best so far. I was a little surprised that Jaime did forgive Rebecca so easily, but, then again, he came close to losing his life in the fire and that would give anyone pause to reconsider quickly. Though I have to wonder if repercussions from her "fling" may surface in the future.
Samuel's need to spoil the wedding with the sugarcane fire was horrendous. Alex again called on Ramon and Santo to help protect his family. Once more, the family came together as one to save their fields.
I loved when Alex unburdened himself of the exasterbation he felt towards Pancho. I admired the way he did it and was relieved that he finally divulged the "family secrets" at last. Amalia was heart-broken and totally within character to seek justice for her lost child.
That said, I'm glad Samuels is gone. He was a hateful and cruel man. Now, we're left to wonder who killed him. I don't believe it was Alex. Was it Ellis who was very angry with him? Was it Frank trying to prove something to his family? Was it Lamont, Ellis' brother not seen since the first episode? We'll have to wait and see.moreless
An instant classic! If you are not watching this show... you don't know what you're missing!!
The last two episodes of this show have been superb! But this one had me on the edge of my seat for the entire episode! From the writing, the acting, everything was magnificent!
It all started with the day of the wedding, everything seems so normal, so cheerful, and peaceful (heck! even the color theme of the wedding is... pink!) but this is a drama about what's underneath, so obviously there had to be something wrong... and oh my! From the begining we find out that Joe Samuels is planning something so suprise everyone at the wedding (it reminded me a little bit of Malefica from the Sleeping Beauty... "Because-you-didn't-invite-me-then-you'll-pay" sorta way)
After that, the tension starts to grow... Rebecca has a big secret that needs to confess to Jamie (we know what it is, but I will not spoil it for you), and the whole mistery about what's gonna happen with the Samuel's surprise is just enough to finish biting my nails!
Many things happen after that, things I'm sure many other posters will summarize, so I'll skip to the end... OH MY!!!! the ending!! that cliffhanger! no words! I'm in shock! I can't wait for the next episode to clearify who shot "him" (i have my theories).
ps. Jimmy Smith's performance on this episode deserves the EMMY! definitelly (well... this one and Damian Lewis' on Life)moreless
The second of the nights two episodes and I have to say it was as great as the first. The premise of Samuels disrupting the wedding was great and the ending of it all being a ploy to get attention away from the cane fields was great. As was the drama
The second of the nights two episodes and I have to say it was as great as the first. The premise of Samuels disrupting the wedding was great and the ending of it all being a ploy to get attention away from the cane fields was great. As was the drama of whether or not Alex's son would escape the fire. The ending was incredible first with Alex letting lose all the emotions he had pent up about what he was doing for the family and mama Duque giving him the ok to kill Samuels. The true ending being Alex standing over a mysteriously sniped Samuels. Great episode with an action packed and engaging story line.moreless
