    • Ryan: We're putting up the tree the other day, Jenny says to me, "It just doesn't feel like Christmas without kids." She wants to try. But I come to work, I watch the news every day, It seems like the world's falling apart. How am I supposed to bring a kid into that?
Esposito: The world's always falling apart, bro, since the beginning of time. But having kids, making a family, that's what keeps it together. So go home. Make a baby. You're ready.

    • Beckett: Well, Castle. Looks like you might have been right. Maybe there is a Santa Claus after all.
Castle: Whether there's a Santa Claus or not, that's not why I love Christmas. When I was a kid, no matter how bad things got, my mother always managed to make Christmas Eve magical. Every year she would put on "The Nutcracker Suite." And I thought, if she can do that in our tiny apartment when money was tight and we were alone. It gave me hope that things could get better. I love that feeling, that sense of hope. It's crazy, you know? On the shortest, darkest days of the year, people of all faiths celebrate the light. Plus, who doesn't love presents?

    • Ryan: Hey. So I heard from Air Traffic Control but you're not gonna like the news. They have no record of anyone flying over the park during the time our guy hit the ground.
Beckett: How is that even possible?
Castle: Santa had his sleigh in stealth mode.

    • Ryan: So I just talked with the family. They didn't see or hear any planes overhead.
Beckett: That doesn't make any sense. He had to have fallen from somewhere.
Castle: I'm sorry. (chuckles) Are we overlooking the obvious here? He hit some turbulence, slipped out of his sleigh, and fell to his doom.
Ryan: Santa... lying there dead. You gotta ask yourself, what kind of world do we live in?
Beckett: A world in which there is no Santa and people don't fall out of nowhere.

    • Castle: There are certain aspects to this that are time honored, the-the heart, the beating heart behind the Christmas holidays. (arriving at the crime scene where a dead man has been dressed like Santa) And now Santa is dead?! When will it end?
Beckett: Hate to break it to you, Castle, but there is no Santa.
      Castle: Well, not anymore.

Lanie isn't a cop at all. i think it's different with them cause she isn't a cop. nor is castle this is true. but he is partners with a cop and Gates is a stickler for going by the book and i think that she fears not what her cops think about them being together but on how Gates will react to it. she prolly would split them up regardless if he is or isn't a cop or not.

Ok, so I imagine this has been brought up before but this episode mentioned it again so I am going to take this time to rant...
      [BEGIN RANT]
Beckett keeps making a big deal about keeping their relationship a secret because it is against police policy and they wouldn't be able to work together...and yet Esposito and Laney dated without it being a secret and nobody seemed to care. And now they might be again...and again nobody cares. What is this mysterious "Police Policy" (read "Plot Device") that Beckett seems to be so afraid of. Enough already writers.
We have spent 4 years watching them hide their feelings and now that they are a couple exactly nothing seems to have changed. It's season 5 guys, just let it happen already.
      [END RANT]

      Ahh that felt good :)

:) you're right about Esposito and Laney, in fact, they broke up and kept working together and nobody cares (maybe because she works at the coroner lab and not a police officer). So I think, as you think, there wouldn't be any problem about Beckett and Castle (he doesn't even work for the police force!) But Beckett is Beckett and she truly believes that if Gates finds out, she and Castle would not be able to work together anymore...
