    • Jon: You're crazy, you know that? I mean, you really are. You're crazier than that guy we were chasing. Ponch: Oh yeah, that guy. Well if I scope that turkey again, I'm gonna pull him out through his winwing, seat belt attached!

    • Fritz: You're gonna become a legend, Ponch.

    • (Jon pulls over an intoxicated Ponch) Jon: The party's over, Hot Dog.

    • Getraer: (to Ponch) Go easy on the chopper. We don't have that many.

    • Broderick Crawford: You know, I was making those Highway Patrol shows long before you guys were born. Jon: Yeah, they don't make TV shows like that anymore.

    • Ponch: (to Getraer at the amusement park) It's no playground up here.

    • Jon: (to the couple going on their honeymoon) We deliver babies too!

    • Ponch: (on a date) Your share's seven bucks.

    Trivia (141)

    • In the intro for the pilot episode the 2 way radio on the bike is Motorola in subsequent episodes this has been altered to something not quite legible but still has the motorola logo.

    • The "Bushkin" moving truck the thieves are driving is a reference to Bekins Van Lines, a real-life moving and storage company whose logo is basically the same.

    • This episode has a different variation of the "regular" theme -- the longest intro theme of the series.

    • Jonathan Andrew Baker (boy on bike) is the nephew of Rick Rosner (creator of CHiPs). He later would play Delby in CHiPs '99.

    • From CHiPs Online: At the basketball game, they showed the clock which said there were 33 seconds left. After we see Ponch making a basket, the clock said 34.

    • Goof: When Jon brings the dog to his condo, for a second you can see someone making the dog bark on the left side of the screen.

    • From CHiPs Online: In the Space Ghost: Coast to Coast episode "CHiPs", Moltar was watching this episode. We saw the scene with the overturned, snake-filled van. In the scene where Jon has to tell a woman that her husband died, the kid who ran in yelling "Daddy! Daddy!" at Jon is played by Derek Wilcox, Larry Wilcox's oldest son. In the scenes before the theme, watch the skies. Sometimes they're foggy and sometimes they're clear. On the runaway bus, there are three people...Ponch and the senior citizens. In some shots (especially while driving through the gravel just before the bus stops) you can see a fourth person. (Don't mistake the boxes in the last seat for a person though...)

    • From CHiPs Online: The scene where the coffin comes out of the hearse is seen in the Space Ghost: Coast to Coast episode titled "CHiPs". Ponch jumps at the chance to go up in the chopper. In a later episode, he doesn't like flying. Ponch is sitting in the pilot seat of Helicopter 5...but he's not the pilot. Either the helicopter has something wrong with it or the inside sound effect is looped over and over.
