  • think Jake 2.0 but without the super powers and better action sequences-- and it doesn't take itself half as seriously

  • It has always been my habit of judging a show by what the Pilot showed us. Although I do admit that some shows, I'd give them a second chance with their second episode but with Chuck, this was not the case.

    • Like most series, the sets for the pilot are not the same as they are for the rest of the series. In this case the apartment that Chuck, Ellie and later Awesome live in is different as well as the layout of the Buy More.

    • Matthew Bomer, who plays Bryce Larkin, was Brett Ratner's favorite choice to play Superman. When the director was changed to Bryan Singer he chose Brandon Routh to play Superman in Superman Returns. Brandon Routh plays Daniel Shaw in later seasons. Both actors vie with Chuck for Sarah's affections. Later Kristin Kreuk, who played Lana Lang on Smallville, plays Hannah and vies with Sarah for Chuck's affections.

    • Chuck: Do me a favor and stay off the five, okay, because the cops are in a phased deployment. Morgan: Okay. Thanks for the tip, Ponch! "Ponch" was the nickname of Frank Poncharello, the highway patrolman famously played by Erik Estrada on seventies police action-drama CHiPs.

    • Zork is a reference to a real computer game which was one of the first interactive fiction computer games.

    • In the scene where agent Bryce is trying to evade capture before his death, he uses free running or "parkour" to escape. This is new trend of extreme sports started in France and is seen most notably in the film, District B13.

    • As Chuck is walking in the Costco like store when he turns the corner you can see a pallet of astro diapers. Most likely an allusion to the astronaut who drove a long time to go to a romantic rivals house in astronaut diapers.
