Trivia, Quotes, Notes and Allusions
Larry: We'll have to get inside.
D.D.: Just leave it to me, Larry. I'll crawl right in that window.
Larry: Okay, good idea, D.D. We'll climb up on those trash cans and I'll boost you in.
Pepper: Hey, wouldn't it be easier...
D.D.: Pepper! We fellas can handle this.
(Later, D.D. is climbing on Larry's shoulders)
Larry: Can you make it, D.D.?
D.D.: Of course. (tries to climb in through the window) Oh-oh! I'm stuck! Oh, boy! I can't move!
(D.D. finds Pepper already inside)
D.D.: Pepper! How did you get in?
Pepper: Through the back door, mastermind. It was opened.
Pepper: D.D., you better let me do the talking.
D.D.: Oh, sure. You--You...Oh, no. No, you don't. You'll put your foot right in your mouth.
Pepper: Do you think I'm dumb enough to mention Mr. Kitrich's name?!
Apex: Who's name?
Pepper: Uh-oh. Mr. Apex?
Apex: Yes, and any friend of Kitrich is no friend of mine. Now get lost! Beat it!
Pepper: Okay. I'm getting lost, I'm getting lost.
D.D.: Let you do the talking. Come on, smooth-talker.
D.D.: A pirate who plays the organ, a mad magician, wrecked printing presses, sheet music, and paper animals! (gasps) Eh, it doesn't make sense.
(A very loud ring is heard)
Woofer: Ruff! Sounds like a telephone, Wimper.
Wimper: Uh, that's a burglar alarm.
Larry: Hey, that's a burglar alarm.
Woofer: See? It's a burglar alarm. Heh-heh! I was just testing you.
(Pepper finds D.D.'s ski tracks leading off a cliff)
Pepper: Oh, D.D.! Oh, I'll never forgive myself for all those things I said! Oh, if I just had a chance to do it all over...
D.D.: What would you do?
Pepper: (turns around) D.D.! Is it really you?
D.D.: Uh-huh. Listen, now that you got a chance to do it all over...
(Pepper angrily skis towards D.D.)
D.D.: Why are you looking like that? Pepper, wait a minute. Remember what you said! Don't do anything you'll be sorry for!
Pepper: What about that balloon Larry found? Anything there?
Dotty: Just a balloon. The shape kind, but nothing special. It had a tiny hole in it, but I patched it. Sterilized it too, so you can blow it up.
Pepper: That's Windy's department, Dotty.
D.D.: She's still mad 'cause I found out she really cares.
Dotty: Hey, you guys, listen to this. (reads) "Check out Vernon, Anderson, Clara and Tom Caldwell." Does Larry think he's playing with the second team? I already did that! I've got a good mind to...(pauses) Wait a minute! You poor babies, all that walking. You must be exhausted.
Woofer: Uh-oh. The kid's got that look in her eye.
Wimper: Uh-huh. The last time that happened, we got the blame.
Pepper: You two lowbrows can laugh by Mr. Harrison must have five million dollars worth of art in this room.
Larry: Sometimes you scare me, Dotty.
Apparently the Clue Club's headquarters is at Larry's house. When Whimper accidentally sets off the alarm Larry is already there, and had enough time to discover what happened, when D.D., Pepper, and Dotty arrive.
Whatever county Clue Club is set in, it must be very large. In Episode 2, Sheriff Bagley is investigating a jewel theft on the ocean coast. In this episode it's shown that his jurisdiction extends to a ski resort in the mountains.
This episode establishes that Dotty and Pepper are sisters.
When Woofer is complaining about having to carry the bone, his mouth moves but we hear Whimper's voice.
Dotty's math doesn't add up when she figures out how much money they'll need for goodies at the circus. Her first total is $17.35. Then she breaks down the cost just for peanuts: twelve bags for a total of $4.20, or 35 cents per bag. When she's reminded that they should buy peanuts to feed the elephants she adds two bags of peanuts, which would cost 70 cents. But her new total after adding the two bags of peanuts is $20.15
