    Notes (5)

    • The squirrel, which attacks Eustace in "Family Business," is very similar to the Weremole. The same music accompanies it, too.

    • Cartoon Network has "1,000 Years of Courage" listed on their website as "A Thousand Years of Courage."

    • Last episode to first air in 2000.

    • In "1,000 Years of Courage" during bingo, Eustace calls out NC-17 and TV-Y7, which are both ratings. TV-Y7 is also Courage's TV rating.

    • The scene near the end of "Family Business," where Basil gets chased through Lincoln's head, can be taken as a homage/parody to Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest, which had a similar climatic scene at Mount Rushmore. In fact, the policeman's line, "No one can survive Lincoln's nose" may be a reference to "The Man in Lincoln's Nose," which was the working title for North by Northwest.

    Trivia (2)

    • After Muriel says "No, that's not it, look at the date", right as she says the year, the music from "King Ramses' Curse" plays.

    • In "Family Business," Basil called Courage "Nigel." But when they first went to Mt. Rushmore, he said "Courage" to him.

    Allusions (3)

    • Wizard of Oz There is a scene in 1000 Years of Courage, when Muriel comes out of a hole and says, "I think we're not in Kansas anymore." This is a line from the Wizard of Oz.

    • Mary Poppins The burglar, while dancing with Eustace and Courage, says (in an English accent) "Step in time." This was said by Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins. Since the movie took place in England, "step in time" was once again said in an English accent.

    • Episode: Parody "1,000 Years of Courage" is a parody of Planet of the Apes.
