    • Opening Voiceover: Within the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit are rapid response teams known as RED CELLS. These nontraditional teams operate outside the bureaucracy of and report solely to the Director of the FBI.

    • Mick: Snipers have a high IQ. They're patient, disciplined, focused.
Gina: They're also controlling. They have huge egos. A God complex. (Mick raises his eyebrows) I mean, according to the U.S. Army research.
Mick: OK, fair enough. We certainly don't lack for confidence. I prefer to call it high self-esteem.

    • Carol Langstrom: Why would anyone do this to Carl?
Cooper: It appears that your husband was a random victim.
Carol Langstrom: Random? How are you gonna find a murderer who randomly shoots people for no reason at all?
Cooper: Because there is a reason. Somewhere inside of him there is a reason he does what he does. We may not understand it yet, but when we do, the why is gonna lead us to the who.

    • Cooper: Director wants us on the ground there ASAP. He thought that Mick's expertise in this, might help us build this profile.
Prophet: Yeah, I bet that in the sniper world, kid here is a pretty big deal.
Mick: Yeah, I seem to excel at certain things.
Gina: We'll have to ask Lisa about that one.
Mick: I'm pretty sure it was Elise.
Beth: I'm pretty sure it's irrelevant.

    • Gina: Be careful up there.
Mick: No worries. This guy's good, but I'm better.

    • Cooper: Listen to me, it's not your fault.
Mick: Someone almost died today because they were standing next to me!
Cooper: Nobody did die! And this is the first time that he attempted an attack and he failed. And the next time, we're gonna get him. This is a lousy situation, but it's the situation that we're in. You and the unsub, locked eye-to-eye. Who's gonna blink? Him or you?

    • Cooper: Conquests, exactly. These people have no value to him. They're just notches on his belt. Talking about the unsub, not you Mick.

    • Mick: You know, not all snipers are serial killers. Some are just serial daters, darling.

    Trivia (5)

    • When SSA Griffith finds the obit, she tells SSA Rawson that the man died in Hope Memorial following surgery. She then reports to Cooper that she found an obit for a man who died following surgery, and he adds that their victim's surgery was also scheduled for Hope Memorial. As they leave, Cooper says, "One man dies after knee surgery and another one dies before it." Up to that point, there was no mention of what type of surgery was performed on the man in the hospital.

    • The fighting style Cooper is practicing at the beginning and end of the episode is Kali, a Filipino martial art that specializes in using sticks and short- to medium-length blades as extensions of the body.

    • When the unsub hangs the third victim, as with all the victims, he kicks the chair from right under his feet. When the team drives up to the hanging body, it hangs a lot higher than it should.

    • The Navy would have jurisdiction if a Marine were killed, and would head the investigation, not the FBI.

    • Penelope states the unsub lost his fingers in a buzz saw accident when he was 12. The record she is reading shows his date of birth as Jan. 18, 1962. The medical record shows the accident was in 1999, so the unsub would have been 37, not 12, and it was a sabre saw, not a buzz saw, which are quite different.
