  • Quotes (17)

    • Rossi: (to JJ, Morgan and Prentiss) Why do you care?
      Prentiss: Because you do.

    • Morgan: What about Penelope?
      Reid: I don't know.
JJ: (in sing-song) Garcia and Kevin sitting in a tree... (she walks away)
Morgan: Get outta here. Are you serious?
Prentiss: Just when I thought nothing scandalous was ever gonna happen around here. (Morgan walks away)
Reid: What? What does that mean?
      Prentiss: Didn't you hear JJ?
Reid: The song meant something? No. No, I missed it.
      Prentiss
: It... it... it... You know what? Never mind.

    • Chester Hardwick: Is that true? That I never had a chance?
Reid: (walking out the door) I don't know... maybe.

    • Connie Galen: (handing the charm bracelet back to Rossi) Agent Rossi, I'd like you to have these. Is it OK if I call you sometime? Just to let you know how we're doing?
      Rossi: (smiling) Anytime, kiddo, anytime.

    • Morgan: I can't believe people actually pay good money to play these fixed games.
      JJ: Men.
      Morgan: Excuse me?
JJ: It's not people. It's men.
      Morgan: Is that a fact?
JJ: Only a man would waste 50 dollars trying to win back a three-dollar stuffed animal.

    Notes (2)

    • After the strike was settled, Ed Bernero wrote the script for this episode, which could be produced quickly and required less time-consuming location work than usual due to time constraints. The working title was "Recall," and it was written in one week, but was subsequently renamed "Damaged."

    • The song heard at the end of this episode was "We'll Get By" by Gary Louris.

    Trivia (5)

    • The actors who play siblings Connie Galen and Georgie Galen, Nicholle Tom and David Tom, are real-life twins.

    • Shemar Moore and guest star David Tom worked together previously on The Young and the Restless.

    • In the "Birthright" episode, Rossi tells the retired local sheriff that the case in that episode had haunted him for 21 years. In the beginning of this episode, however, Rossi states that "20 years tomorrow three children woke up and found their parents murdered..."

    • Rossi tells John Caulfield in "Birthright" the charm bracelet he carries is to remind him of a case from Indianapolis where three children watched their parents get beaten to death on Christmas Eve. This was not the same story in "Damaged," in which the Galens had been axed to death in March.

    • Whether intended by the director or just happenstance, there is a sign on a building in several scenes that reads LEGACY, which is partially obscured by Prentiss' head and only the letters GACY can be seen. John Wayne Gacy was known as the Clown Killer and the unsub was wearing clown make-up.

    Allusions (1)

    • Prentiss: Like Lennie in Of Mice and Men. Of Mice and Men was written by John Steinbeck and told the story of two migrant farm workers, Lennie and George. Lennie has the mind of a child in a large man's body, who accidentally kills a woman, and George is his devoted friend who takes care of him and cleans up after him.
