Trivia (1)

  • Goof: After locating the DB in hooker alley, Detective Reed looked up the call history in the victim's iPhone. She used the touch screen to do so, even though she was wearing gloves. iPhones do not respond to touches through gloves (especially leather ones, like the ones she wore) because they operate using capacitive touch. Only things that have electrical conductivity (such as human skin) will cause the receptors to respond.

Allusions (3)

  • Brass: Drop the Woodward and Bernstein act, okay? Referencing Robert Woodward and Carl Bernstein, American journalists of the Washington Post, who together investigated and reported the Watergate Scandal in August 1972, leading to the resignation of President Richard Nixon.

  • Conrad: Catherine, you're a crime scene investigator, not Erin Brockovich. Erin Brockovich is an American legal clerk and environmental activist who, despite the lack of a formal law school education, was instrumental in constructing a case against the Pacific Gas and Electric Company of California in 1993. The case was settled in 1996 for US$333 million, the largest settlement ever paid in a direct action lawsuit in US history. Marg Helgenberger played Donna Jensen, who was a plaintiff in the case.

  • Frack-Sci Fi Term: Ray notes that the term "Frack" sounds like something from a Science Fiction show. The term "Frack" and deriviatives of it such as "Fracked" and "Fracking" were commonly used terms from the series Battlestar Galactica. Katee Sackhoff, who portrays Detective Reed in this episode previously starred in that series as Starbuck.
