    • Henry: (To Danny) I just didn't know enough not to let him (the Devil) in.

    • Josephine Delacroix: Some people believe 333 to be a proverb: The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked, but He blesses the habitation of the just. 333 is the son of the Devil, the one who collects souls for the sins of our youth.

    • Stella: Half of Manhattan reported zombie attacks last night.

    • (After Lindsay is attacked by the old woman) Danny: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, what are you doing? Lindsay: You didn't see her? Danny: See who?

    • Stella: All we have is our vic and 300 zombies crammed into Midtown, vandalizing stores, stalling traffic and scaring tourists. Flack: All for a laugh. Mac: Maybe someone didn't get the joke.

    • Seth Peterson, who plays Henry Willens in this episode, co starred with Melina Kanakaredes in the show Providence, where he was cast as her brother. They don't have interaction in this episode though.

    • Joe Dante uses several classic horror movie lighting and camera tricks which prove effective without being distracting.

    • Spanish episode title: Trick or Treat? Funny how a title in English is used and it isn't the original title of the English version.

    • Bruce Dern & Robert Picardo are members of the Dante troupe. Together they acted in the 1989 Tom Hanks led comedy, The 'burbs. This episode also reunites Robert Picardo with the other Robert on he show, Robert Joy. Both men worked together on Picardo's own series, Star Trek:Voyager in the seventh season 2-part outing, Workforce.

    Trivia (8)

    • Goof: When Danny and Lindsay enter the house in Amityville, Danny lays down a series of acrylic step plates presumably to preserve the crime scene. However, when they first arrive at the location, the sheriff walks out of the front door of the house, which indicates that the local law enforcement has already contaminated the crime scene. In a later scene, Lindsay is alone in the main hallway of the house and is attacked by the old woman. There are no step plates in the scene even though the bodies of the murdered family are still laying in the hall.

    • The blind woman tells Mac that he is cursed and lays out three Tarot cards: the Tower, the Hanged Man and the Devil. The Tower stands for death, chaos, ruin and also revelation of the hidden truth. The Devil stands for lack of faith. The Hanged Man symbolizes sacrifice. Josephine tells Mac that 333, the Devil's son, acts in response to the sins of our youth. Apparently, Mac keeps a secret that is connected to something that happened to him in his youth, some kind of sin from his past that is buried and struggling to come to light.

    • Guest star Seth Peterson co-starred with Melina Kanakaredes in the series Providence playing brother and sister. But they didn't appear together in this episode.

    • Goof: (?) Jurisdiction wise, the NYPD shouldn't investigate a case in Amityville in Long Island. Apparently, a plane crash keeps the local investigators busy; however can every investigator in the Suffolk County Police and the state police department be busy? The crime scene needs forensics experts, it is possinble the plane crash, a HUGE scene to cover, does require the forensic teams of all of Suffolk County (which while large, if an entire plane needs to be encompassed it could be possible). Also, Halloween is one of the busiest nights of the year as many hooligans feel the need to vandalize things.

    • Just after the titles are shown, the camera pans across some buildings where the lighting pattern in the occupied offices makes a skeleton skull.

    Allusions (4)

    • One crime in this episode is set in a spooky old house in Amityville, New York, best known for The Amityville Horror. The real-life story, on which the films are based, claims the house was haunted because of an earlier killing spree, when Ronald DeFeo, Jr. shot six members of his family to death.

    • Use of a cricket bat to kill a zombie is a reference to the film Shaun of the Dead where it is the favoured zombie killing weapon of the title character.

    • Flack: Happy Halloweird. When Flack says to Mac, Happy Halloweird, this may be a deliberate reference to the original C.S.I. as Halloweird was the costume & prop shop run by C.S.I.'s first serial killer Paul Milander. Milander's father started the business.

    • Among the evidence being examined from the voodoo doll found in Dexter Nevins' coffin is a pack of Morley cigarettes. Morley is the brand of cigarettes used in lieu of product placement in The X Files. They were the brand favored by the Cigarette Smoking Man. The Morley Tobacco Company figured as a corporate villain in the episode Brand X. The design of the Morley package is obviously patterned on Marlboro. (The Morley brand is not just limited to X-Files; the brand has been used in Buffy, The Vampire Slayer, Criminal Minds, Cold Case, and even the William Shatner episode of The Twilight Zone).
