  • Dexter falls in love with his babysitter, but then learns that she already has a boyfriend. Knowing this, Dexter now plans to get rid of her boyfriend at all costs.

    • The teenage Dexter in ths epsiode would later appear in Dexter's Lab: Ego Trip, but without acne.

    • The Hydroplasmatic Accelerator is also seen (and named) in "Old Man Dexter."

    • "Carpe diem" is Latin for "seize the day."

    • This is one of the few occasions where Mom doesn't wear gloves.

    • The family dog is different from the one Dexter offed in "Jurassic Pooch." He seems to remain the same in all subsequent episodes.

    Trivia (1)

    • When the babysitter rings Jeff, he calls him her little Fuzzy Lumpkins, as in Fuzzy Lumpkins from The Powerpuff Girls.

    Allusions (2)

    • Dexter: Blind her with science. This is taken from "She Blinded Me with Science," a 1980's pop song by Thomas Dolby and also in some ways, "Blinded by Science" -- a 1979 Foreigner song.

    • Dexter: Reach out and touch someone. The motto of AT&T, one of America's biggest telephone companies.
