    Allusions (2)

    • Mike calls cameraman Doug a "freaky little Gumby". Gumby is a dark-green claymation figure from a 1950's American tv series that ran for over 35 years. The show also featured Pokey, a red-orange clay pony.

    • As Mike suits up in protective clothing to clean the ship, he jokes about reading something similar in The Right Stuff. The Right Stuff is a book by Tom Wolfe made into a movie in 1983. It is about the history of the U.S. space program from the breaking of the sound barrier by Chuck Yeager to the Mercury 7 astronauts.
