Georgia were due to compete in the first semi-final, but their entry was withdrawn as it breached the rules of the contest. It was seen that the song Georgia selected, "We Don't Wanna Put In" by Stefane & 3G, was a political slur on Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. Georgia refused to changed the song, and consequently their entry was withdrawn.
The Maltese artist, Chiara, has competed in the contest on two previous occassions, in 1998 and 2005.
