  • Episode Description
  • When a hostile alien ship fires first at the Moya, the crew, despite the fact that their energy shield is up, finds their minds switched into another person's body. As a result, Crichton is in the body of Aeryn, Aeryn is in the body of Rygel, and Rygel is in the body of Crichton. In the cockpit, Pilot is in the body of Chiana, Chiana is in the body of D'Argo, and D'Argo is in the body of Pilot. They're all forced to adapt to their new bodies as they attempt to figure out what caused the switch.moreless

  • Everyone is out of their minds only literally.

  • In typical Farscape fashion, a common sci-fi cliche is used in an original and humorous way

  • Trivia & Quotes
  • Quotes (10)

    • Tak: (after throwing up during his tour of Moya) Excuse. Rygel: (in Crichton's body) No, no, that's all right. We do that sort of thing all the time on Moya. I just peed in the maintenance bay.

    • Crichton (in Rygel's body): Crichton. Aeryn (in Crichton's body): She wants me? Crichton (in Rygel's body): Yeah. Zhaan wants to hear it from you. She won't listen to Rygel. Rygel (in Aeryn's body): I told you. You all say I'm paranoid, but it's true. No one ever frelling listens to me. Crichton (in Rygel's body): Can it, fur ball. Rygel (in Aeryn's body): Great! Now I'm getting yotz, from my own body.

    • Rygel (in Crichton's body): Well why? Why would they want us to switch bodies? Why?! Crichton (in Aeryn's body): I don't know. But if this is some kind of sick experiment, I'm billing them for the therapy.

    • Crichton: Well, they say you have to walk a mile in someone's shoes to understand them. Aeryn: Well, I certainly know what you were doing when you were in my shoes, Crichton. Crichton: Gimme a break. Aeryn: (with a chuckle) It's okay. It's okay, you know. You were in my shoes, I was in your pants... Crichton: 'Scuse me?!

    • Zhaan: By the goddess! What is this madness that has overtaken all of you? Aeryn (in Crichton's body): We'll explain later, just shoot us Zhaan. Full power, and don't worry we'll have the screen up. Zhaan: Are you sure about this Crichton? Rygel (in Aeryn's body): Shoot the damn gun you blue-assed bitch!

    Notes (3)

    • The cast got ready for this episode by videotaping each other to observe and copy their characters' mannerisms.

    • International Air Dates: -This episode aired in Canada on January 19, 2002 on A-Channel (CIVI). -This episode aired in the UK on September 4, 2000 on BBC-2. -This episode aired in Australia on December 11, 2001 on Nine.

    • Although freelancer Michael Cassutt wrote the original script, it underwent a heavy re-write to get it right in context of the Farscape characters and what they would say. The re-write was done by Justin Monjo.

    Trivia (4)

    • Nitpick: At the end of the episode, Zhaan is discussing that Talon has grown and that "when he decided to attack, he easily destroyed the Halosian ship". This is incorrect. Talon disabled the enemy ship but did not destroy it. Perhaps she means he 'could easily' destroy the enemy ship, but the way it is described is incorrect (Zhaan is on this ship for the majority of the episode, in the aftermath of Talon's attack).

    • Goof: Lani Tupu's voice is adjusted when playing Pilot to distinguish it from his other role, Crais. But when Pilot switches back to his own body at the end of the episode, his voice does not go back to usual- he has a deeper voice which is more reminiscent of Crais.

    • Crais appears to not be leading Talyn astray, since they only fired on the Halosian ship after being attacked first, and then they didn't destroy the ship.

    • Zhaan can apparently pull her hand out of tight spaces (because she's a plant), although if the fibers are torn they may not heal if they're extensively damaged.

    Allusions (3)

    • Out Of Their Minds:
This episode's title is a tribute to a novelof the same name by sci-fi author Clifford Simak, which is one of Michael Cassutt's (the episode's writer) favorite books.

    • The Dark Crystal:
The Halosians were an homage to the Skeksis, the major villains in an earlier Henson feature, The Dark Crystal.

    • Crichton: (in Aeryn's Body) It's the three freakin' Stooges, I'm hitting myself. This is a reference to the Three Stooges. Said after hitting Rygel (in Crichton's body).
