Trivia (2)

  • Trivia: In Romania there is a superstition that a person should be buried face down with their mouth sewn shut, and this way a vampire would not be able to rise from its grave.
Another superstition states that sewing the mouth shut prevents an evil spirit from entering and possessing the corpse. Also, by staking Navarro, Chelsea is preventing him from becoming a vampire, even if eventually fed upon.

  • Goof: When Dennis Mahoney's daughter says she is going to color a picture for her dad, she is coloring with a pink marker. The next second, the pink disappears from the coloring book, the marker is nowhere to be seen and she is coloring with green.

Allusions (3)

  • Lemmon: ... and why this all seems like a really bad version of Deliverance? A reference to the 1972 horror movie Deliverance, which was based on a novel by James Dickey.

  • Episode Title: "Family Man" Referencing The Family Man (2000), where the lead man wakes up one day as a different person, albeit with the same name, and gets a glimpse of what his life would have been like if he'd married his childhood sweetheart.

  • Steinwitz: Like that Silence of the Lamb guy, right? Referencing the 1988 novel by Thomas Harris featuring Clarice Starling as a young FBI trainee forced to meet with imprisoned cannibal/serial killer/epicure Hannibal Lector, to capture one of Lector's proteges, Buffalo Bill. The Silence of the Lambs is actually the second to feature Lector (the first is Red Dragon, 1981), and Harris has since written a sequel (Hannibal) and a prequel (Hannibal Rising). The novel, adapted by Jonathan Demme, was turned into a feature film in 1991.
