    • Niles: Never in my life have I heard such caterwauling over a pair of shoes. Frasier: I'll have you know I spent a bundle on these shoes. They're "Joan and Davids". Niles: You named them?

    • Martin: I can't tell you how many retirement dinners I've spoken at. I can just dig out my old joke book: "One Thousand And One Side-Splitters, Rib-Ticklers and Thigh-Slappers". Frasier: I'm sure you're a veritable chiropractor of mirth.

    • (At Cafe Nervosa the waiter remembers Frasier's coffee, but forgets about Niles) Waiter: (notices Niles) Oh, I'm sorry, you had the... Niles: Absent-minded waiter, I'll get it myself!

    • Niles: I could use the fresh air, I'm feeling a tad sluggish. Frasier: Oh, up late last night? Niles: Oh, I'm afraid so. As usual, I left it till the last minute to write all my Frasier Crane Day cards!

    Notes (3)

    • International Episode Titles: Czech Republic: Výroční pořad (Annual Program)

    • The episode denotes the date of the real Frasier Crane day to have taken place on September 11, 1997. This was exactly 4 years to the day before series co-creator David Angel died on one of the hijacked jet liners in the 2001 September 11 attacks.

    • This is the first episode to be primarily filmed on location in Seattle with scenes at the fish market and the Space Needle.

    Trivia (2)

    • The show celebrated the real "Frasier Day" in Seattle on September 11, 1997. At the end of the episode Kelsey Grammer and some of the cast/crew can be seen singing the show theme at the "Frasier Day" rally.

    • Niles is feeling a boost to his self-esteem at being mentioned in The American Journal of Psychiatry (among others) for his "groundbreaking work" in the field of trichotillomania. For those who don't know, Trichotillomania is the clinical term for compulsive hair pulling.

    Allusions (1)

    • On the outside wall of the shoe store Frasier and Niles visited there is a sign "Lloyd & Kennan Company", this is a reference to Frasier writers and executive Producers Christopher Lloyd and Joe Keenan who wrote this episode.
