  • Trivia & Quotes
  • Quotes (4)

    • (Niles sees Roz kissing Frasier) Niles: Please, no explanation necessary. I assume that at the next meeting of Seattle's "Haven't Kissed Roz Club," it will just be me and the archbishop! Roz: I'll save you the club dues. Niles: What ...? (Roz kisses Niles and leaves) Niles: Everyone kisses better than Maris!

    • Sherry: Good news, I found a guy who can sculpt an exact replica of Marty's old police badge out of six pounds of liverwurst. Frasier: Oh, how reminiscent of the cream cheese gavel they gave Thurgood Marshall on his eightieth!

    • Niles: It seems so unhealthy. Is she going to serve anything at Dad's party but meat? Daphne: Sherry says that's what he and his old cronies like best. With drinks, she's serving cocktail franks. For appetisers, we're having a sausage medley. And for the main course there's a choice of meatloaf or meatballs. Niles: I assume these colourful balloons are for the between-course angioplasty!

    • (In competition with Niles to buy their father the perfect birthday gift, Frasier has bought a giant-screen TV) Niles: Frasier, you have lain waste to your apartment with this eyesore. Frasier: I disagree. Where you see an eyesore, I see a picture window into a world of art and culture. Just think how a screen this size will enhance the majesty of the Metropolitan Opera, or the thrilling artists of the Bolshoi. Niles: You're quite a Bolshoi artist yourself.

    Trivia (3)

    • The top of the cabinet for the "brand new" big-screen tv is covered with dust and the camera angles are deliberately set to avoid showing the screen, which suggests that not only is this just an empty prop cabinet, but one that's been sitting in storage for some time. On the other hand, the tower speakers are Dynamo, which is a real speaker line put out by MartinLogan.

    • The gray horse that licks Niles' face is named "Trigger".

    • Martin celebrates his second birthday in 1997! His first was back in "Dad Loves Sherry, The Boys Just Whine" in January 1997, and now in October 1997, he has another birthday.

    Allusions (1)

    • Niles (at a stable, showing Martin his birthday present--Agides, his former police horse mount): Don't be surprised if you see a certain resident trotting by, wearing his Triple Crown.

For this Seattle-based sitcom, an allusion to Seattle Slew, an American Thoroughbred race horse. In 1977, he became the tenth American Triple Crown winner, and (with his nine-for-nine record) was the first Triple Crown winner to finish the series undefeated. Although Seattle Slew lived most of his post-race life in Kentucky, he lived until 2002, so would have been very much alive at the time of this show.
