    Notes (7)

    • International Episode Title: Czech Republic: PrvnĂ rande (First Date)

    • This is the first appearance of Tom Selleck as Dr. Richard Burke. Richard was in 10 episodes of Friends.

    • The priest is actually Greg Malins, the writer of this episode.

    • The six friends would huddle together before each episode to wish each other luck. Tom Selleck reported feeling left out.

    • During filming, when Tom Selleck would show up on stage, he would receive such long standing ovations that it forced a change in the Friends filming style. When a laugh was too long, or too short, the live audience's laugh was removed, and prerecorded laugh tracks were used instead.

    Trivia (5)

    • Goof: When Phoebe and Monica first enter Richard's apartment, they walk right into his kitchen and set up there for the catering event. During Richard's party, Richard opens one of the doors in the kitchen (the same one the girls entered through) and it opens to the party, not the hallway.

Note: There are two doors in Richard's kitchen. The knobless door behind Monica and Phoebe leads to the party, the other door is the one that the girls entered through.

    • When Chandler is ordering the pizzas, he tells the recipient to send them to Apartment 20 - Geller/Green. He should know that neither Monica nor Rachel is home. At the time, Monica is catering and Rachel is on her date with Ross.

    • Goof: While Ross is rearranging the exhibit, a mic is briefly visible at the top of the screen.

    • In this episode, Rachel says that she didn't want to wear her glasses on their first date. No one ever mentions Rachel's glasses or even contacts ever again. In The One with Joey's Big Break it is also mentioned that Rachel doesn't like to put things in his eyes.

    • Trivia: When Ross and Rachel are in the auditorium, the music heard is by Chris Isaak, who appeared in a previous episode.

Bond is featured in twelve novels and is arguably the most famous & most recognizable fictional character ever due to the unparalleled success of his 21 films (1962-2006).

    • Ross: This screen in amazing. I mean Dick Van Dyke is practically life-size. Monica: Rose Marie really belongs on a smaller screen. The gang is watching the Dick Van Dyke Show which stars Dick Van Dyke, an Emmy-Award winning American actor, and Rose Marie, an actress who had a career as a child star under the name Baby Rose Marie.

    • Ross: Listen, have you ever been, uh, you know, foolin' around with a girl and, uh, she started laughin'? Chandler: Yeah, but, uh, it was 1982 and my Flock of Seagulls haircut was tickling her chin. A Flock of Seagulls are a synthpop group, known for the lead singer Mike Score's distinctive haircut.
