  • Episode Description
  • Michelle is too eager to sleep the night before her first day of preschool, and when she finally arrives in the classroom the next morning, her happiness is squashed when she is involved in an unfortunate incident with the class bird. Feeling that nobody likes her, Michelle stubbornly refuses to go back--an idea that Jesse accepts, since he understands what it is like to be outcasted at school. After Danny makes it clear that this is not a viable option, the adults must devise a plan to ease young Michelle back into the preschool that once excited her. Meanwhile, Stephanie gets herself in some hot water when her latest attempts to read DJ's diary backfire miserably.moreless

  • Trivia & Quotes
  • Quotes (3)

    • DJ: Look, Stephanie. I am not going to yell at you. I'm just going to talk in a firm voice for a very long time. Now, why are you always snooping in my stuff? Stephanie: I can't help it. You fascinate me. DJ: Listen, I'm tired of you just--(pauses) I fascinate you? Stephanie: Yeah. I mean, you have really cool clothes, you're in junior high, and you carry a purse. You're a woman of the world! DJ: That's true......

    • Jesse: (about Michelle) Trust me, I know what the kid's going through. When I was in kindergarten, I was the goldfish monitor. Part of my job was to take the goldfish home over the weekend. I learned a very important lesson: when taking a goldfish home, take the bowl with you. Danny: You killed the kindergarten goldfish? Jesse: Hey, back off man! I'm still trying to get over it. To this day, I can't eat sushi. Danny: So what happened? Jesse: Well, my parents made me go back to school and all the kids teased me. They called me "fish hater." Danny: Ohh, brutal.

    • Jesse: Now, listen, we love you very, very much, and if you don't want to go to preschool, then you don't have to go to preschool. Michelle: Yay! Thank you! (hugs and kisses him) No more school! Jesse: See there, Daniel? Problem solved. Danny: No, problem made worse. Jesse, Michelle has to go to preschool. Jesse: How can you make her go back to school? The kids don't like her. Danny: Jess, I know you just want to protect her from being hurt, but you have to understand that we can't protect her from every single little problem that might come up. We have to help her get through this.

    Notes (2)

    • First (and only) appearance of Michelle's preschool teacher Miss Petrie. In later episodes, she will be replaced by a better teacher w/glasses, Mrs. Manning.

    • This episode marks Miko Hughes's first appearance in the series as Aaron Bailey.

    Trivia (2)

    • Miss Petry says that Aaron gets the Sharing Crown because he shared his toys that day. How could Aaron already have the Sharing Crown if it's supposed to be the beginning of the very first day of school? Also, he continues to wear the crown the next day; you'd think that would just be a one-day thing.

    • When Michelle is at preschool waiting with Sammy, you can see that her pony tail changes from the top of her head to the side of her head several times throughout the scene.

    Allusions (1)

    • This episode was named after the musical "Bye Bye Birdie"
