  • The episode is a brilliant spoof of Andrew Lloyd Weber musicals -- especially Cats and Starlight Express (which was performed on roller skates).

  • The scene where Chris is forced by Larry to watch video of Sharon while listening to Beethoven's 9th Symphony mimics the scene from the 1971 film, "A Clockwork Orange", where the main character, Alex, is subjected to a type of conditioning/aversion therapy to sex and violence while listening to the same Beethoven piece.

  • Chris ponders giving away his tool belt "because of the industry's treatment of Native Americans". This is a reference to Marlon Brando's refusal to except his Oscar for Best Actor in The Godfather because of how Hollywood depicts Native Americans onscreen.
