  • Lorelai gives Luke an ultimatum and Rory throws Logan a leaving party. I think my views on this episode may be different to others, this was a great season finale.

    • Lorelai: Hey Lynnie, I have a recurring dream where a walrus waddles up, lies down on me, falls asleep and I can't breathe. What do you think it means? Richard: Lorelai... Lorelai: What, Dad? Lynnie is a psychologist. She should know. Lynnie It's okay. It could mean a myriad of things; too much stress from work, something in your life strangling you... or you've watched Alice In Wonderland too many times.

    • Emily: Gerta, did I fire you? Gerta: No. Emily: I didn't? Everything is off tonight.

    • Lorelai: Voices in your head, totally normal, right? Linny: Excuse me? Lorelai: There's only two, that speak English.

    • (In Logan and Rory's apartment. Logan is getting ready for graduation and Rory is taking pictures of him) Rory: Oh, that's another good one! Logan: No, it's not. Rory: Hold it (she takes a picture) Logan: Yo, Alfred Stieglitz stop with the pictures Rory: I prefer Cartier Bresson Logan: My eyes are pale. I'm very sensitive to the light. Rory: You only graduate from collage once and I will document it to my heart's content, and you can't stop me. (takes a picture) Logan: At least I'm clothed in these. Rory: Oh, yes, those shower photos will fetch me a bundle on the internet. Logan: I don't even know why I'm doing this. Why am I doing this, this whole cap and gown thing? Rory: Because, the graduation ceremony is not only for the graduate, it's for the loved ones too. We talked about this Logan: No, you talked and I disagreed. Rory: And then I ruled, and that's that. Logan: I'm taking that Stalin biography away from you. (Rory takes a picture) Rory: Come on, I don't want to be late Logan: You do realize you're putting yourself at the cross hairs. Rory: Meaning? Logan: There will be all manners of Huntzbergers in the audience. Rory: Oh, I can avoid people with the best of 'em. Logan: I didn't say people, I said Huntzbergers. Rory: Don't you worry your pretty little head about this. I'll take care of myself. Logan: I just want you to be fully prepped (they look at the picture on her camera) Rory: Oh-ho, I've outdone myself photographically, Everyone of these is a keeper. Logan: Ok, that's a close-up of my naked butt, that's not a keeper. Rory: You're right, that's a screen saver.

    • (Logan is getting off the elevator with Colin and Finn) Colin: Come on, one more stop! Logan: I can't! Finn: But tomorrow you will fly away to London, and we will all forget about you. Logan: I am touched, but Rory will be back any minute. Colin: You know, I'm starting to get the feeling you'd rather be with her than us. Finn: Impossible! Logan: I appreciate the drinks and the diversion, your friendship over the years is worth at least a couple of pages in my memoir, but as of now it's good bye. I'm spending the rest of the night alone with my girl. (Rory greets them at the door) Rory: 'Ello governor. Chips? Logan: I'm sorry, I was looking for my girlfriend.

    Notes (9)

    • The first troubadour that appears is Joe Pernice of The Pernice Brothers, singing "Amazing Glow." This isn't the first time a Pernice Brothers song is featured in an episode of Gilmore Girls. In season 4 episode 4: "Chicken or Beef", Rory sits in the gazebo reading and listening to "Weakest Shade of Blue."

    • French episode title: "Le D├ępart De Logan", meaning "Logan's Departure".

    • This is one of a couple of times we will see Daniel Palladino on the show.

    • Music: "Amazing Glow" by Joe Pernice, "Perfume" by Sparks, "Car Song" by Mary Lynn Rajskub, "Beanbag Chair" by Yo La Tengo, "What A Waste" by Sonic Youth, "A Beaver Ate My Thumb" by Daniel Palladino, and "Taking Pictures" by Sam Phillips

    • This episode drew 5.33 million viewers.

    Trivia (16)

    • Sonic Youth make an appearance singing "What a Waste" in front of the Stars Hollow sign in the town square. Ironically, the song starts with the lyrics "Hey, gimme hollow stimulation"

    • This is the first time Lorelai has ever really talked to anybody (since the postponement) about everything that has happened in her life, whether it be past, present, or future.

    • This episode is the first time Lorelai ever admits to a man that she loves him. She even says it to him twice in a way that seems to stress its importance.

    • This episode begins and ends in exactly the same way, with Lorelei waking up in a strange bed, then lying there with her eyes open, pretending to sleep.

    • In both of her breakups with Luke, Lorelai is wearing a blue dress (a light blue one at her parents's vows renewal and a dark blue one when she goes to Luke's and asks to him to elope, which he declines). Coincidentally, she was also wearing a blue dress when Christopher bailed on her at Sookie and Jackson's wedding.

    • Lorelai: So Linny, as a psychologist tell me, what do you think of The Sopranos? The Sopranos is partly about Tony with his psychotherapist. We see Tony at work, at home, and in therapy.

    • Lorelai: Kimmie saw this guy at the mall, who was a total Chachi. And, he bought us a Slurpee. Charles "Chachi" Arcola was a character on Happy Days noted for his good looks. A Slurpee is a icy drink from 7-Eleven.

    • Rory: (to Lorelai over the phone) I won't be ignored, Dan! It's a quote from the movie Fatal Attraction.

    • Logan: Yo, Alfred Stieglitz, stop with the pictures. Rory: I prefer Cartier-Bresson. Alfred Stieglitz and Henri Cartier-Bresson are very famous photographers. Both photographed in black and white.

    • Miss Patty: You know, half the time peolpe talk to me I'm thinking about Baryshnikov. Did you see Turning Point? Luke: No Mikhail Baryshnikov is a famous ballet dancer. He received an Oscar nomination for his first film role, in 1977's The Turning Point (also starring Shirley McLane). His latest appearance was in last season of Sex and the City where he played Carrie Bradshaw's boyfriend, Aleksander Petrovsky.
