    • The castle was designed by Otis Riggs. It cost more than $15,000 to erect and is one of the most elaborate sets yet planned for TV. Included were a throne room, banquet hall, bedrooms, courtyard, and an entrance gate that collapses on cue before the blows of a battering ram.

    • Maurice Evans and Judith Anderson also starred in the most successful Broadway version in 1941.

    • This was the third two hour presentation of Hallmark Hall of Fame, the first was "Hamlet" in 1952 and the second "King Richard II".

    • Dame Judith Anderson won the first EMMY for Hallmark in her role as Lady Macbeth.
