    • Duke: Did you already tell him about the other thing? Audrey: What? Duke: The thing that's got you holed up, living on frosting. I didn't think so. Hey (grabs Audrey by the arm). Come on. What is it? You're a mess. Audrey: I can't. Duke: 'Cause you have to tell Nathan first. Audrey: Yeah. Yeah, pretty much. Duke: Do I have to like that? Audrey: Today, yeah.

    • Driscoll: Your father was a good man, Nathan. We need to replace him with an even better one. Nathan: Won't be you. Driscoll: No, but with good friends, the right kind of friends, new chief of police could do wonders for this town. Nathan: Friends? You mean thugs like Max Hansen? Driscoll: Don't you call your daddy names, Nathan. Nathan: I called my father "The chief." I'll be damned if I'm gonna let you fill his seat. Driscoll: You already are... damned. Things are gonna change in Haven, Nathan. I'm going to change them. So either you leave and find someplace else to live your life, or you will suffer... like the rest of your kind.

    • Audrey: I was. Somehow I was here. Is there anything else you want to send my way? I mean, anything, anything at all? 'Cause I got to believe you got nothing left.
Max: Whatever it is, you'll handle it.
Audrey: I'm sorry, do I know you?
Max: Whatever you're dealing with, you'll figure it out. I've been in some rough places, had a few conversations with myself. Eventually I got where I needed to be.
      Audrey: And where was that?
Max: Where I'm standing. It's always where I'm standing.
Audrey: Does this place mean something to you?
Max: You know, sometimes, uh...you leave a mark where you've been. Sometimes the tide just washes it away. But you don't know until you come back, do you?

    • Vince: Why are you here?
Max: I'm here to claim the life that was taken from me, the family that was stolen from me, and to watch the man who took it all from me die.
Vince: Garland's not alone, you know.
Max: Neither am I. I have friends in Haven.
Vince: I'm sure they won't mind if you die first. Leave now, Max, before I do something I really enjoy.
Max: You know, it's good to see that somebody in this town remembers who he is. Tell your brother that I'll be back for what's mine. Oh, and Vince... next time I see you, I'm gonna kill you.
Vince: Are you sure? Couldn't get it done the last time.

    • Audrey: You know, just because this guy's dead doesn't mean that another guy with a tattoo isn't going to kill you. Duke: You really are a buzzkill. Why would you say that? I liked you so much better when you were locked up in your cupcake room.

    • Injoke: Max Hansen has spent the last 25 years in Shawshank State Prison. Series creator Stephen King created the fictional Maine prison for his 1982 novella Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, which featured later in the movie adaptation The Shawshank Redemption. Like many King story elements, it has been mentioned in several subsequent novels and short stories.

    • Music: Stuck in a Glass Elevator (The Myriad)

    Trivia (1)

    • The sign on the chief's door as Nathan goes in and finds Driscoll waiting for him says "Wuornos." However, the official website, press releases, and closed captioning all list the last name as "Wournos."

    Allusions (1)

    • Duke: Nathan, come on, if I could do that, why am I out here playing Jed Clampett with a shotgun in my lap? Referencing the TV series The Beverly Hillbillies, starring Buddy Ebsen as Jed Clampett, the grizzled patriarch of the hillbilly family. When he finds "oil in them there hills," he moves his family to Beverly Hills and comedy hijinks ensue.
