  • show Description
  • Hawaiian Eye is about a couple of private detectives based in the exotic Hawaiian Islands. This was the first and most successful 77 Sunset Strip clone. One could even make it a case of calling it a spin-off series since Strip detective Stuart Bailey appeared in the very first episode. Also, Tom Lopaka and Tracy Steele would visit the Strip on occasion. The WB Private Eye universe was later completed by Surfside Six and Bourbon Street Beat.moreless

    Notes (34)

    • Malahini means stranger or newcome to Hawaii.

    • Waikiki - A famous beach and resort district of Oahu Island, Hawaii, southeast of Honolulu. It is known for its fine surfing conditions.

    • Oh,what a time it was between Elvis and the Beatles! Yata and Steele put on an amazing martial arts bout that would make the Ultimate Fighting participants blush. The intensity of Yata's emotions art are that of a man on the edge. The episode has the aura of a "film noir"

    • In 50s slang Karen Steele is a "dolly".

    • Robert Conrad sings in this episode, and he has a fabulous voice!

    • The classic beachhut with the large boulders is used here. Steele to the rescue as only he can. Steele is way cool!

    • One of the joys of watching classic shows is the use of things that are obsolete. While was watching I noticed a child's recordplayer, and a phonebooth, a fountain pen ,women's clipon earrings. The set for the child's room were full of building block and push toys since this was way before the hitech days.

    • Steels drives a 1959 Galaxie(Fairlane)Sunliner. Kim's taxie is a 1959 Galaxie(Fairlane)Club Victoria. The beach boy was driving a Ford Edsel. Mokie was driving a late Ford sedan. The bad guys drove in style in a black Continental

    Trivia (2)

    • This goof was mine. Sorry! The action at the old beachhut actually happened in episode 7 not episode 8. The thrills and chills of Hawaiian Eye at ye old beachhut are great in any episode.

    • Actor Don Stroud was Troy Donahue's surf double during this season.
