  • Episode Description
  • The remaining three aspiring chefs are presented with a challenge that requires them to each create a dish from a different country. Each chef prepares a fantastic dish, but one chef forgets to bring up a key ingredient, causing them to lose the challenge. Another chef wins, despite never having made a dish from that country before. The victor is treated to lunch made by three renowned chefs representing countries from around the world, while the losers are made to prepare both the dining room and the kitchen for service. At service, each of the chefs are given an opportunity to run the hot plate and face quality control tests. All three struggle with various challenges, but the service is completed successfully. In the end, two chefs advance to the final, but are told that their day isn't over and are sent off to get ready for another challenge.moreless

    Trivia (2)

    • Rewards Challenge: For this challenge, Chef Ramsay presented the three remaining aspiring chefs with three domes. Under each dome was the name of a country and each had to cook a dish themed after their chosen country. Ariel picked China and chose to do a duck with a lychee plum marinade. Dave got India and went for a mung bean puree and seared pork tenderloin. Kevin chose Mexico and made an orange and cumin light marinated pork tenderloin in a mole and Mexican chocolate sauce, but forgot to bring up the mole and sauce when it came time to serve the dish. The dishes were judged by three renowned chefs-- Vikas Khanna (India), Thomas Ortega (Mexico) and Eddie Wong (China). Although each represented a specific country, all tasted the dishes.

Reward: Dave's dish was chosen as the favorite by all three chefs, though they indicated that they likely would have chosen Kevin's dish, had he only remembered the mole and chocolate sauce. For winning, Dave got to sit at one of the Hell's Kitchen chef's tables and enjoyed being served each of the three judges' signature dishes while also chatting with them. He was also given a set of Demeyere cookware, the same type of cookware used in Hell's Kitchen.

Punishment: For losing, Kevin and Ariel were made to prepare the dining room with Jean-Philippe, polishing glasses among other things. They then had to prep for service, which was being held that evening.

    • Eliminated: Ariel. Chef Ramsay asked asked all three remaining chefs who they felt didn't belong in the finale. Both Kevin and Dave picked Ariel, while Ariel chose Kevin. Chef Ramsay, however, wasn't satisfied with any of the rationales that they gave, so he asked them to each give their reasons why they felt they should advance. After considering, he chose to eliminate Ariel, but allowed her to keep her jacket as a simple reminder of everything that she'd accomplished in Hell's Kitchen.
