  • Episode Description
  • The six remaining aspiring chefs work together for the first time as one team. The chefs compete in their first individual challenge, requiring them to create dishes that not only taste good, but also look fantastic. The top two dishes are judged on taste, with the winner's dish appearing in a magazine and the winner receiving a mani/pedi treatment and haircut. The losers are punished with making over the Hell's Kitchen dining room. During the evening's service, Chef Ramsay looks for a leader to emerge, but finds generally poor communication all around. Particularly weak performance on the part of two chefs gets them kicked out of the kitchen.moreless

    • Chef Ramsay: Ed was one of the favorites because of his strong start. Unfortunately, in cooking, it's not how you start, it's how you finish.

    • Autumn: (in an interview segment) I swear, they keep trying to get rid of me, but they just can't.

    • Chef Ramsay: This is a competition. The stronger get stronger and the weaker get exposed.

    • Chef Ramsay: Time's running out, guys, for everybody.

    • Jay: (in an interview segment) There's nobody on Earth that doesn't know Whoopi Goldberg-- Whoopi: I am so happy. Jay: --and it was awesome to cook for her.

    Trivia (2)

    • Rewards Challenge: In this episode's challenge, the aspiring chefs had to create dishes that not only looked good, but were also presented very well. For the first part of the challenge, they were judged by a group of culinary students based purely on presentation. The two chefs with the best presentation, Ed and Benjamin, went on the final round, where their dishes were judged on taste by Tanya Steele of epicurious.com. Reward / Punishment: Benjamin won this challenge, as Tanya Steele quite liked both dishes, but felt that Benjamin's had the total package. For winning, he and his dish were featured on epicurious.com. He also got to have a maincure, pedicure, haircut and facial. The remaining chefs were made to spruce up the dining room under Jean-Philippe's supervision.

    • Nominees for Elimination: Telling the remaining chefs that time was running out, Chef Ramsay asked them to all come to a consensus on two chefs to nominate for elimination. They picked Autumn for having been sent up so many times before & being generally weak and Ed for having had several difficult services and not communicating. Eliminated: Ed
