  • This episode was the big daddy of all the previous episodes that let me down, only this one let me so far down that I feel I will never recover.

    • Young Dr. Suresh: Don't you see the benefits your abilities could have for the world? Young Angela: I only see my nightmares. Young Dr. Suresh: Einstein said, "The life of the individual has meaning..." Young Anglea: "...only insofar as it aids in making the life of every living thing nobler and more beautiful." Young Dr. Suresh: You've read Einstein. Young Angela: No. I just dreamt that you would say that.

    • Young Alice: Remember when I got an F in History? Dad took away the TV and dessert. I was so mad that I... That night, a hail storm smashed his car. Young Angela: So? Young Alice: I think I can control the weather. (Alice looks out the window and it begins to snow) Is Dr. Suresh gonna come for me?

    • Young Charles: This place is one big science experiment, and we're the rats. Young Angela: You're wrong. They're going to help us. Young Bob: She's right. We're freaks. They're going to make us normal. Young Charles: And you're blind. Why do you think they have armed guards? Young Angela: We've done nothing wrong. It's not like we're communists. My dad said we can trust them. Young Charles: This has happened before. Nazis with the Jews. America did it, too, with the Japs. Young Angela: This is different. We're different. Young Charles: What was your nightmare? Young Angela: My dreams are confusing. They're not always right. Young Charles: You have to stop being afraid and start believing. Young Angela: That doctor. Suresh. Don't trust him.

    • Angela: We made everyone forget. Claire: Who's "we"? Angela: How do you think the Company was formed? It started here, with a vow to never let this happen again. We destroyed files, erased memories. We blackmailed, killed, anything to keep our existence secret. And it worked for 50 years. Now, Noah and I have tried to fix this current situation, but Mr. Danko has proved resourceful. Claire: So, that's what you were trying to do? Noah: Yes. Claire: But you blew it? Noah: Yeah. Angela: The important thing is to put our secret back, so we can all stop running, return to our lives. It's time to go back to the old methods. Claire: You mean erasing people's memories and killing people? Angela: It's a necessary evil. Peter: I'm sorry, what happened here, Mom, but it didn't give you the right to do the things that you've done, and it still doesn't. Angela: We need you, Peter. I need you. Peter: That Company tore this family apart. I'm not going to be a part of it again.

    • Angela: 1961 was a different time. Kennedy was president. We were all patriots. And when the government found out about us, they told us they could cure us, and we believed them. And they rounded us all up and they put us here.

    Allusions (2)

    • Young Angela: Say "Good night", Alice. Young Alice: Good night, Alice. That was an allusion to the classic lines from the radio show (later a TV show) Burns & Allen. Every night George would say goodnight to the audience and Gracie would apparently forget to do so. He would turn to her and say "Say 'good night', Gracie.' She would then reply "Good night, Gracie." At the time this scene takes place, the series would only have been off the air for about three years, so the sisters would certainly know the joke.

    • Mohinder: (looking over skeletons) So what, my father was Dr. Mengele?
Josef Mengele was an SS officer who experimented on prisoners at the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz.
