Clever impersonation theme leads to hilarity and a well-planned mission

    By dougalderman, Dec 17, 2006

This episode is the first of a two-part program, a task largely avoided by CBS' blockbuster "Hogan's Heroes."

A lisping and silly British traitor by the name of Sir Charles Chitterly arrives at Stalag 13 and immediately befriends the bootlicking Kommandant Klink. As the POWs notice Chitterly's startling and uncanny likeness to their prior acquaintance and unwitting accomplice Colonel Rodney Crittendon, a plan begins to unfold.

The bumbling yet lovable Crittendon is called upon to impersonate Chitterly. In this part of the episode, Crittendon is sold to the viewer as just the moron he is throughout the series. In the end of this first half of "Lady Chitterly's Lover," Crittendon fears that the appearance of Lady Chitterly will blow his cover and fail the mission, a scenario with which he is not unfamiliar.

The conclusion of this episode holds all answers Crittendon.moreless
