    • House: Hey, genius. I think it violates certain ethical laws to rip the organs out of a guy who's still alive. Certain law laws, too.

    • Molly: I don't know how God is going to get us through this. But He will. House: Stop it, I'm blushing.

    • (pointing to Thirteen, Kutner, and Foreman) House: That's my diagnostics posse. Hot, Dark, and Darker.

    • (about Thirteen) House: She's the smart one. I just keep Dark and Darker to fill out the quota.

    • Lee: (thinking) I never thought I'd be praying for a brain tumor, but please, dear God. House: If you're praying in there, stop it right now.

    Allusions (3)

    • House: His doctor's busy trying to teach him to blink out "Kill me" in Morse code. This is a reference to the 1971 film Johnny Got His Gun. The main character, Joe Bonham, is a quadruple amputee who has also lost his eyes, ears, mouth and nose, the result of an artillery shell during World War I. He shares a similar plight to Lee in that he can hear and understand everything going on around him but is unable to communicate. He eventually begins to use Morse code by tapping his head against his pillow, starting with "SOS" and eventually begging, "KILL ME."

    • House: I guess your mom took care of him first. So, your safe course is to gouge your eyes out. This is in reference to the ancient Greek play Oedipus Rex by Sophocles. In the play Oedipus unknowingly kills his father and marries his mother, fathering two daughters on her. When it comes to light at the end of the play that his wife is in fact his mother, Oedipus stabs his eyes with pins.

    • House: Save the cheerleader, save your world. Referencing the NBC series Heroes, and the catchphrase popularized during the first season (Volume One) of the show. The cheerleader is Claire Bennet (Hayden Panettiere), a person with the power to regenerate most injuries.
