  • show Description
  • I Am Weasel follows the miss-adventures of Weasel, a genius who succeeds in everything he does, and his sometimes partner, sometimes enemy, I.R. Baboon. Clearly not as smart as Weasel, using a unique speech pattern, Baboon is the loser on the show, rarely, if ever, succeeding in anything. The show wouldn't be complete without the Red Guy, who has joined the cast in the second season, and who originally was on the Cow and Chicken show. I Am Weasel was originally only the middle segment on the Cow and Chicken show, both created by David Fiess. Soon enough, Weasel received his own show, and lasted for five seasons. Using a clever combination of slapstick humor and irony at the same time, making the show appealing to adults and young children.moreless

    Notes (136)

    • Baboon accidentally builds the bridge to Mexico which wins Weasel the French prize.

    • Weasel swims all the way to France in this episode.

    • Weasel can complete the bridge a lot faster than the boss that is hit by a comet.

    • I am Weasel and I.R.Baboon were engineers in this episode.

    • This is the first episode which uses the title of I.R. before the actual name, starting a small trademark in about half of the I Am Weasel episodes.

    • Normally on Cow and Chicken, the I Am Weasel segment is saved for last. However, since the episode of Cow and Chicken was one two-part episode, the I Am Weasel segment was shown as the intermission.

    Trivia (35)

    • Reference-When I.R. Baboon sticks banana peels in I.M. Weasel's Rocket and then proceeding to blow up, it is in slight reference to the Challengerexplosion that happened exactly 11 years, 6 months and 6 days from the episode's first airing.

    • Goof: Despite saying the mission was set at night, it is actually the afternoon as the sky was blue.

    • The Queen of Yurp's scepter is a plunger.

    • This is the first time the Kingdom of Yurp is seen.

    • In this episode, when Weasel is seen without his fur, he looks like a little human with a big weasel nose and a tail. However, in later episodes when Weasel strips of his fur, he looks like his normal weasel-like shape but without the fur.

    • Baboon gets married in this episode, yet in the next episode he isn't anymore.

    • We learn that Baboon has a sister named Barbie.

    • When Weasel and Baboon have their brains switched, their voices change as well. Rather than merely swapping voice actors, Charlie Adler continues to voice I.R. Baboon, but doing an imitation of I.M. Weasel's voice. Additionally, Michael Dorn imitates I.R. Baboon's voice when voicing Weasel with Baboon's brain.

    Allusions (17)

    • Jacques-Yves Cousteau: The French man wearing a red cap and scuba gear Weasel talks with during this episode is a parody of French naval officer, explorer, ecologist, filmmaker, innovator, scientist, photographer, author and researcher who studied the sea and all forms of life in water, Jacques-Yves Cousteau (11 June 1910 – 25 June 1997). Weasel even calls him "Jacques" in a scene.

    • This episode is a parody of the famous movie, "My fair lady".

    • Yurp is a parody / reference to Europe.

    • The love song that plays when Baboon has his fantasy of him dating the thistle lady is a parody of "Kiss the Girl" from Disney's The Little Mermaid (1989).

    • TV shows titles: While making their demands, the Canadian beavers list various hockey equipment, but also a couple of old animated or children's TV shows: The Friendly Giant: a popular Canadian children's television program that originally aired between 1958 and 1985. Mr. Dressup: a Canadian children's television series which aired between 1967 and 1996. Rocket Robin Hood: a Canadian animated television series, produced by Krantz Films, Inc. from 1966 to 1969. The New Adventures of Pinocchio: an animated stop motion produced by Rankin-Bass, aired between 1960-1961.

    • The way Weasel flies through the air with the help of his umbrella is obviously a parody of Marry Poppins, who did the same. Even Weasel's costume resembles hers.

    • The title alludes to a "phantom foot", or "ghost limb", which is the odd feeling that a missing limb is still present, reported by some amputees.

    • The title 'Queen of DeNile' is a reference to Cleopatra, who was both queen of the Nile (the main river in Egypt) as well as, often said to be, queen of denial (psychology term for lying to yourself about the reality).
