  • When this episode originally aired, Philip Morris had a special announcement regarding the birth of the Ricadro baby after the episode ended and before the credits rolled.

  • The movements of the scene where Ricky, Fred, and Ethel take Lucy to the hospital are carefully written out in the script. These actions were then rehearsed to make the scene as funny as possible.

  • The scene with Ricky singing in his voodoo costume is filmed the following week because there wasn't enough room on the soundstage for the hospital set and the Tropicana set.

  • The sex of the Ricardo baby was pre-determined to be a boy. Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz thought that if they had a daughter on the show that it would confuse Lucie, their real life daughter, who would wonder why she wasn't on TV with her parents.
