  • Quotes (3)

    • Ethel: (insulted after Lucy interrupts and finishes the story) Well! Lucy: I'm sorry, Ethel. I just couldn't stand it any longer. Ethel: Oh! You don't care how many tenants I lose, but you get awfully excited if I tell a couple of people about it! Lucy: A couple of people? Ethel, that scene has had more performances than South Pacific.

    • Ricky: (referring to how Ethel stood up to Mrs. Trumbull) Gee, honey. Wasn't Ethel wonderful? Lucy: (unenthusiastically) Yeah, wonderful. Ricky: You don't sound very appreciative. Lucy: Oh, I am, I am. In fact I'm up to here with appreciation. (placing her hand under her chin) Ricky: Huh? Lucy: Well it was nice of her, okay! But all day long she's been re-enacting her scene. She told the mailman, the grocery boy, the cop on the beat. This afternoon she came down to the beauty parlor while I was there and played a matinee for the manicurist. Ricky: (chuckling) Well, maybe she got it out of her system by now. Lucy: I hope so. Ricky: Well honey, it was nice. Lucy: Nice, yes. But Ethel acts as if she discovered penicillin!

    • Mrs. Trumbull: (reading a portion of the lease) 'It is expressly understood that at no time will children be allowed to live in said building.' Ethel: (realizing the violation) Little Ricky! Lucy: He's a children!

    Notes (1)

    • The Simmons twins (who played Little Ricky for the remainder of the season) were each paid $25 per episode.

    Trivia (2)

    • At the head of Little Ricky's crib is the heart with the cartoon Desi and Lucy kissing.

    • Though people seem to think that Vivian Vance mistakenly makes reference to the old "Mrs. TRIMBLE" who lives upstairs", according to the Lucy book, the original script calls her TRIMBILL. It is Vivian who is saying it right and everyone else is saying TRUMBILL.
