    • Vaughn: Amazing, millions of dollars in research and development and the best they can come up with is you.

    • Jake: What is going to happen to me? Diane: Honestly, we just...we don't know.

    • Lou: Look, it was an accident and I'm sorry about that but I am not going to pass up this opportunity. Kyle: Opportunity? Lou: Yes, we don't know how long this guy is gonna live and we need to learn what we can while we can. Kyle: Unbelievable. Lou, this guy risked his life for us and in exchange we're going to turn him into a lab rat? I hope it's worth it.

    • Diane: It's remarkable! You see how the nanites have positioned themselves along his central nervous system? What they're doing is establishing contact with the brain via electrical impulses but eventually that link will be seamless. I mean, whatever he wants them to do, they'll do.

    • Vaughn: Don't worry, Jake. I wouldn't hurt you, but my associate might.

    • Jake: (Vaughn pushes elevator button) Thanks. Vaughn: No problem. If there's one thing I'm good at, it's pushing buttons. (beat) You didn't think that was very funny, did you? Jake: Huh? Uh, no, no, I did. Vaughn: My humor doesn't translate here. Back in Ireland they'd be dying by now.

    • Lou: Nice work. Jake: Thanks, but I was just doing what any good employee would do. I'm a go getter. Lou: So, I've been reading. It says here you applied for intel training. Jake: Yes, twice. Lou: You've served your agency well today and I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate your confidentiality agreement. Under no circumstances are you to recount any of what happened today to anyone, ever.

    • Diane: Are you okay? (Jake doesn't answer) Jake? Jake: What? Diane: Oh, um, I just asked if you were okay, which is an incredibly stupid question considering that you just saw that. Um, can I get you anything? Do you want some water or aspirin or valium?

    Trivia (38)

    • This is the only episode that Jake's eyes make the shutter clicks as he uses the nanites to zoom his vision.

    • When Darin and Jake are at the bar, Darin tells Jake to pull out his NSA badge because there are ladies at "6 o'clock." The girls were in front of Jake and Darin, meaning they couldn't be at 6 o'clock (which would be directly behind them).

    • The hole in the ceiling where Jake hit his head disappears. In the next scene when Jake is doing pull-ups, there is not damage to the ceiling.

    • The show purports to take place in Washington D.C., but being a resident of Toronto, Canada, I noticed a couple of goofs that show Jake is in Toronto, and not the United States Capital. 1) After Jake leaves Sarah's apt. the first time he walks into a park, and behind him is a bus/trolley that is half red and half white, just like the busses/trolley that the ttc (toronto transit commision) uses, and a minute later when he sees the running hamster ad on the side of a bus, the bus is predominantly white with a blue and red stripe. 2) When Jake is riding his bike after his meeting with Sarah, and the NSA is chasing him, he rides through an intersection and changes the traffic light with his nano power. On the corner of the street is a coffee store house called SECOND CUP (displayed in big letters). Second cup is a Canadian company not found as far as I know in the United States. There is no second cups anywhere. 3) Also on that same corner is a circular sign with a green circle surrounding a yellow circle with an arrow in it. In the green circle it says "DON VALLEY PARKWAY", a major Toronto highway. 4) Finally, after he jumps the construction site mound of gravel on his bike and he stops, he gets a phone call from the Irish terrorist who has kidnapped Sarah. Notice the blue flag with the white stripes going horizontally and vertically waving right in the background? That's a city of Toronto official flag. Unfortunately, I am not sure what intersection this is all in, and what park Jake walks through, but there is not a doubt in my mind that those scenes are from Toronto.

    • The same shot of a car speeding around a corner is seen twice. The first is after Jake's lunch with Sarah and the second is when Kyle goes with several agents to look for the stolen weapon.

    • The car Jake and Kyle use to get from Mix to the site of the plane crash changes.

    • The Prop Department told David Greenwalt that normally there are 15 rounds in a handgun magazine. ALSO they advised him that when a pistol has fired its last round it does in fact remain locked open. HOWEVER! It is common practice in training real agents to insert a dummy round into the magazine to throw off the trainee when he tries to fire a dud.. Thus the pistol would be loaded and not locked open.

    • When a semiautomatic pistol like the one used by Jake and the bad guy fires its last round, the slide on top locks back to: A) let you know the gun is empty; B) facilitate faster reloading. So the whole plot device of not counting rounds fired and being surprised when the gun is empty is faulty.

    Allusions (15)

    • Jake: Is this the place where you tell me my mission… should I choose to accept it? Referencing the 60s-70s series Mission: Impossible and the opening briefing tape which typically said, "Your mission, should you decide to accept it..."

    • Cigarettes The pack of cigarettes in the opening scene are Morleys - a fictional brand seen in The X-Files and smoked by the Cigarette-Smoking Man (i.e., "Cancer Man").

    • Jake: That's a line from RoboCop. RoboCop was an action movie from 1987, starring Peter Weller, where a slain police officer is retrofitted with a cybernetic exoskeleton.

    • Federal Reserve Official: This isn't the Bedford Falls Savings & Loan. This is the Federal Reserve Bank of the United States. This is a reference to the classic Christmas movie It's a Wonderful Life (1946). George Bailey (played by Jimmy Stewart) reluctantly takes over the Bailey Building & Loan in the sleepy small town of Bedford Falls. Typical of small-town financial institutions, especially in earlier decades, the Bailey Building & Loan has relatively few security measures.

    • Jake: I thought I was chasing Emmitt Smith down in that subway yesterday. Referencing the Dallas Cowboys running back and as of the time this episode aired, the all-time NFL rushing leader.

    • Jerry: I'm gonna grab a nap before Smackdown!. Smackdown! is a popular WWE wrestling show that once aired on the UPN network, the same network that aired this show. It has since moved to the new CW.

    • Jerry: Okay, enough with the Gilmore Girls.
Gilmore Girls is a WB show revolving around a mother and her teenage daughter, along with everything that goes around them in their town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut.

    • Kyle: So when you jog, do you hear that slo-mo running sound from The Six Million Dollar Man? That do-do-do-do-do-do-do...? Referencing the 1970s series The Six Million Dollar Man, starring Lee Majors as another cybernetically-augmented super-agent. Majors himself will later appear as a (somewhat) different character in "Double Agent".
