    • Will: Just once I'd like someone to do the right thing. Once! Det. Carlisle: You're still a dreamer. It's cute.

    • Grace: (about Joan) If she had an off switch, I'd use it...

    • Luke: High school house party. A primordial soup of hormonally charged organisms just longing for a lightning bolt and a little innocent mitosis.

    • Will: What happened to the cheery, optimistic Joan? Joan: I found no future in optimism.

    • Joan: I didn't really want you to shake your booty. Adam: That would've been ugly.

    Trivia (3)

    • When Joan enters the hospital room to see Judith, there is someone in-shot at the back of the room, but when Joan leaves, the person is gone.

    • Just after Adam leaves when Judith says her parents are "shrinks", several students (most notably a blond girl with a white binder) walks by them. The next shot shows the same kids walking past her again.

    Allusions (1)

    • Old Lady God: being hit by a car This appears to be the second, albeit less direct, reference to the TV series The West Wing in two weeks. In that series, in the episode 18th & Potomac, the character Kathryn Joosten played, Mrs. Landingham, was hit by a car. Here her character gets hit by a car too. Barbara Hall must be a fan.
