  • Episode Description
  • When Tater doesn't show up for school, JoJo and her friends become worried and decide to check up on him. It turns out that he's not ill, but he and his family have a problem --- they've become stuck to their couch. They'd been sitting there doing nothing but eating snacks and watching television for so long that they can't get up. When a newsreporter named Nosey Rosie covers the story, Jumping Jack of the program Circus Town Makeover catches the broadcast and puts them on his show. JoJo is excited, as this is her favorite TV show and TV star. As a close friend of Tater's, she too gets to be on the program. Tater and his family, the Spudinskis work hard, but discover that changing their ways requires a lot of effort. They find that it's all worth it though when they're able to do things they never could before.moreless

  • The Spudinskis are couch potatoes. They're so inactive that they *literally* get stuck to their couch. Then Jumping Jack shows up and puts them on the reality/makeover series "Circus Town Makeover."

  • Trivia & Quotes
  • Quotes (13)

    • Mrs. Spundiski: I learned that eating healthy food makes you feel great. Mr. Spudinski: And I learned that exercising makes you feel great too. Tater: I learned that when you feel great, you can do just about anything. Small Fry: (giggles)

    • Tater: The Spudinskis present to you the wonderful couchcycle. Mrs. Spundinski: All the comforts of your comfy couch, but specially designed for the more active couch potato.

    • JoJo: If we're active every day and healthy food most of the time, then it's okay to have a small amount of sweets and treats every now and then.

    • Tater: (in confessional) I tried to be happy, but when Jumping Jack threw all our snazzle-pop, cheese pa-doodles and candy clowns into the garbage, I got kind of sad.

    • Jumping Jack: We're in the home of the Spudinskis, a family of couch potatoes who are actually stuck on their own living room couch. This, my friends, is what happens when you eat lots of unhealthy snacks and stay in one place too long. In the next week, you'll see what happens when I give the Spudinskis a total fitness makeover.

    Notes (2)

    • The first names of Tater's parents are revealed on the program for the first time. They are Mrs. Ida Spudinski and Mr. Russ Spudinski.

    • Billy Bush and Kathie Lee Gifford appear in a special "Guest Starring" section of the credits for their roles as the voices of Jumping Jack and Nosey Rosie.

    Trivia (1)

    • In "Circus Town Makeover," for the first time ever, somebody other than JoJo was featured for the Spotlight Moment. Jumping Jack asked JoJo what she learned, but she stated that she didn't learn nearly as much as the Spudinskis. So they were placed in the spotlight. They learned that eating healthy food and exercising makes you feel great and that when you feel great, you can do just about anything.

    Allusions (1)

    • JoJo: We're all gonna be on my favorite TV show Circus Town Makeover, with my favorite TV star Jumping Jack. Circus Town Makeover is essentially a parody of ABC's now-canceled Extreme Makeover. Hosted by Sam Saboura since its second season, this series features participants who are given a "fairy-tale" experience through plastic surgery and other makeover techniques. Though canceled, it was popular enough to spawn a spin-off, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, which is focused on home improvement.
