  • Episode Description
  • When the Arlen Bystander gets a new editor, Peggy gets a job writing a household hints column. Except Peggy doesn't know any household hints, so she gets Minh to supply her with housekeeping tips in exchange for the answers to the New York Times crossword puzzles (as she is competing against Kahn). When Minh can no longer provide Peggy with tips, she has to make up her own, which leads to a potential disaster. Hank makes Bobby get a paper route, to his dismay. Dale, who really wants to be a paper boy, makes a deal with Bobby that he will do all the work.moreless

    • Bobby: The last few days of delivering papers, I've seen things I've never seen before: The sunrise... the morning dew... snails on the sidewalks. Things... I never want to see again.

    • Minh: (on the phone with her mother-in-law) I agree Laoma - nothing good enough for your little Kahn! That's why I would so appreciate you telling me how I might remove a lipstick stain from his shirt. Uh-huh. (pause) Yes, Laoma, I did hear you say my lipstick remind you of Bangkok circus clown!

    • Hank: Last night Bobby reached for a dinner roll, and I think I saw a muscle in his throwing arm!

    • (Peggy is applying for a job with The Arlen Bystander) Editor: I'm looking for people who have a home-spun wisdom that comes from living a real life. Peggy: A realer life than mine you would be hard-pressed to find!

    • (Bobby is in a line to sign up for a paper route) Bobby: Is your dad making you get a paper route too? Dooley: I'm building character.

    Notes (1)

    • Although Peggy gets a job working for the Arlen Bystander in this episode, she had already been seen working there in the previous season's episode 'Smoking and the Bandit'. This episode is actually a holdover from season 8.

    Trivia (4)

    • Tagline: (falling over) "Aaaargh. ...Rad!" -Dale

    • Luanne does not appear in this episode.

    • Technically, mixing ammonia and bleach will not produce mustard gas. It is a common misconception that chlorine gas is mustard gas. While the two are similar, it takes more than just mixing the two household cleaners to make mustard gas. They must be mixed in the right parts and exposed to other chemicals to lower the pH and synthesize the correct reaction to get C4H8Cl2S, aka mustard gas. That said, of course, still DO NOT mix the two together! It will form chloramine, a very toxic chlorine gas.

    • At the end of the episode, the Texas flag is upside down.
