  • Trivia & Quotes
  • Quotes (8)

    • Doug: A dam is a big thing that holds water. KITT: I thought that was a bathtub!

    • Michael: KITT's more than my partner, Devon. Come on, he's a friend.

    • Michael: Go ahead. Doug: Is it legal? Michael: You're a citizen aren't you? Doug: Well, yeah I guess. Michael: Go ahead. Doug: This is Doug Wainwright, and I'm making a citizen's arrest.

    • Korso: He's just a kid, Bobby. Bobby: You say that like kids don't count—like they can't testify.

    • KITT: They appear to be burning something more than your average premium unleaded, Michael. Michael: That's okay. Let's show them what high octane's all about. (hits Pursuit mode)

    Notes (3)

    • The German episode title is "K.I.T.T. kriegt einen Schlag", meaning "KITT Takes a Blow". The French episode title is "Une nouvelle amitié", meaning "A New Friendship".

    • This marks the first of Lenore Kasdorf's two, unrelated appearances on Knight Rider. She can also be seen in season four's "Fright Knight."

    • Music: Billy Ocean's "Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run)" (cover version)

    Trivia (7)

    • Though the chemical formula for nitrous oxide of N2O indicates its molecular structure is comprised ofthree atoms, KITT displays a molecular diagram withten atoms.

    • When Bobby and Julius robbed the demolition site, the Jeep had a "Bob's Plumbing Supplies" logo on each of the front doors. When Michael and KITT pursued them, the logos were gone, but when the thieves ditched the Jeep, the decals re-appeared.

    • The concept of the criminals waiting at a business that sponsors a youth baseball team to find a member of the team is a plot hole. While they got lucky that the business belonged to Doug's family (a fact they did not know) and would naturally be around the business, to expect a team member to hang around a sponsoring business is faulty logic.

    • When Doug meets KITT in the flower shop, he leaves KITT's door slightly ajar. But when Michael runs in, the door is fully closed.

    • When Doug left the house at 4:55am, it was barely dawn. With the shot of Michael outside, there is a lot more daylight than there should be for that early in the morning.

    Allusions (1)

    • The main premise of this episode is a play on Steven Spielberg's 1982 film, E.T. the Extra Terrestrial, and the working title was "KITT, Phone Home," a play on the phrase "E.T., phone home." In the episode, a confused KITT even mistakenly refers to Doug as "Elliot," the name of the boy who befriends E.T.
