  • Young Fred Staples is the new executive at Ramsie and Company and the unwitting replacement for good natured vice president, Andy Sloane. Ruthless Mr. Ramsie, president of the company, is determined to oust Sloane whose humanitarian outlook Ramsie feels is the enemy of big business.

    • This episode, a major career milestone for writer Rod Serling, was only partially seen in his hometown of Syracuse, New York. The local station, WSYR, experienced transmitter problems and went off the air just as the story reached its climax. The next day, the TV column in local paper "Syracuse Herald-Journal" provided viewers a summary of how the story ended.

    • The teleplay was remade into a film in 1956.

    • At the 1956 Emmy┬« Awards presented 3/17/56, Everett Sloane was nominated for "Best Actor-Single Performance" for this episode. (The winner was Lloyd Nolan for Caine Mutiny Court Martial for Ford Star Jubilee. Writer Rod Serling won the Emmy® for "Best Original Teleplay".
