    • Master Po: The sage says, 'For good return good. For evil return justice.'

    • Master Po: The sage has said, 'Others are contented. I alone am drifting, not knowing where I am. I'm alone without knowing where to go. I am different. I am nourished by the great mother.' In an uncertain hour, the wise man acknowledges uncertainty.

    • Master Po: The Way runs true through darkness through shadow: neither is cause for despair. The sage has said, 'The five colors blind the eye. The five tones deafen the ear. The five flavors dull the taste.' Therefore the wise man is guided by what he feels not by what he sees. When our senses are confused and overpowered, our deeper feelings may yet keep us on The Way.

    • (after stumbling into Mei Ming's quarters through window) Sing Tao: One could hope for a more dignified entrance. Lu Tien: And a more dignified priest. Mei Ming: What is it, Lu Tien? A priest? But how? Where did you come from? Lu Tien: Not from heaven. Sing Tao: It may be that I have reached heaven. Lu Tien: It may be that you lack holiness, holy man.
