  • This would make a great companion piece to "Recital For Organ," from Season 1.

  • Trivia & Quotes
  • Quotes (8)

    • Jack McCoy: My mother shoved a box of Crayolas in my pocket, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in my lunch box, and sent me on my way. Serena Southerlyn: Sometimes I wonder how much of this is really for the kids' education and how much is just stroking their egos.

    • Ed Green (about legacy admissions): It's like affirmative action for white folks. Ain't that how George W. got into Yale, 'cause his daddy went there?

    • (About Wyatt Scofield.) Ed Green: Waters is right, he is a condescending bastard. I wanted to kill him myself.

    • Dr. Elizabeth Rodgers: This woman had an oophorectomy. Lennie Briscoe: You mean she had her oophers removed?

    • Cantor (as he hands Briscoe a polaroid of the victim): For your book of memories.

    Notes (1)

    • The indoor scenes of The Knowles School were filmed at The Marymount School of New York.

    Trivia (2)

    • While inside Debra Landon's apartment, Briscoe finds a playbill and ticket for the show La Boheme. Green says, "You don't need to love opera to love La Boheme, it's a Broadway play." Rent, which is based off La Boheme, is a Broadway show in which Jesse L. Martin originated the role of Tom Collins.

    • Goof: Jack is told that "if he doesn't have the yeast, he can't bake the cake." While yeast is an important ingredient in most breads, it is not actually used in many cakes.

    Allusions (4)

    • This episode features a subtle jab at the CBS monster hit CSI, as Lennie Briscoe observes that crime scene techs are overrated. "They think they're cops," he says.

    • Harvey Anchin: You're really working for John Ashcroft, aren't you? At the time of this episode, John Ashcroft was the US Attorney General. Ashcroft is a conservative Republican who is known for being very religious. He is opposed to pornography and anything else that might be considered indecent; for example, he ordered a bare-breasted statue in the Justice Department building to be covered by drapes.

    • This episode appears to be ripped from the headlines of the Sanford Weill case.

    • The title of this episode, "Kid Pro Quo", is a pun on the Latin term 'quid pro quo', which means "this for that" -- an exchange of one thing (perhaps money) for something else.
