  • Trivia & Quotes
  • Quotes (1)

    • John: We're going to have to head south but fast.
Don: Abandon the spaceship? What if it's finally spotted by some passing rocket?
John: They'll televise a picture back to Earth.
Don: Oh, yeah, that's great. A picture showing no signs of life, no survivors.
John: Well, Don, I'd rather not be found at all than be picked up by a pair of ice tongs.

    Notes (2)

    • Music: Greensleeves (sung by Bill Mumy)

    • Much of the footage in this episode (including the trip to the weather station, Mrs. Robinson doing laundry, and the escape in the Chariot) is reused footage from the unaired pilot. The line, "this must be what the Robot saw" is an obvious overdub, since the Robot did not appear in the unaired pilot.

    Trivia (1)

    • Don and John are walking outside in the apparent freezing cold on this planet. While having to hide from the giant cyclops, it apparently wasn't very cold in the studio where they filmed the scene, as a closeup of the two actors in their heavy winter clothing reveals beads of sweat on their faces.

    Allusions (2)

    • Title:
Referencing the Book of Genesis 6:4, "There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown."

    • Will: Boy, now I know how that ole Dr. Frankenstein must have felt.
Referencing the 1818 novel by Mary Shelley, Frankenstein or The Modern Prometheus. The story is about Doctor Frankenstein who creates a living being out of the parts of dead people, a being that turns against its creator.
