  • Quotes (36)

    • (Jack and Kate on the walkie talk right after Jack cut Ben's kidney sack) Jack: You remember what I told you on the beach, the day of the crash. You remember what story I told you when you were stitching me up. (screaming) Do you remember it? Kate: (in agony) Yes, yes, I remember! Jack: When you get safe, you radio me and you tell me that story. Kate: (crying) Jack, please! Jack: If I don't get a call from you in the next hour I'm gonna know that something went wrong and he dies!

    • Kate: (to Kevin) I love you, but I can't stay.

    • (Right after Jack has seen Kate in Sawyer's arms, Ben walks into the observation room and Jack holds him at gunpoint) Ben: If it helps, I was suprised, too. If I were a betting man I would have picked her and you. Jack: Shut up! Ben: Well, I suppose this would be the proverbial nail in my coffin. Jack: (lowering the gun) Tomorrow. Ben: Sorry? Jack: Tomorrow morning, first thing.

    • Jack: I'll get it out, your tumor. And I'll keep you alive. But I need your word. I need what you promised me before. I need to get the hell off this island. Ben: Done.

    • Kate: Taco night? I don't do taco night.

    Allusions (2)

    • The Feast of the Ascension: When Kate calls the Marshal he observes that it is Feast of the Ascension, and alludes to the fact that perhaps Kate only calls him on Holy Days. Ascension Thursday is a Holy Day of Obligation in the Roman Catholic Church and it occurs forty days after Easter Sunday. It commemorates Christ rising to Heaven after spending his post-resurrection period with his apostles.

    • Kate: Hey. Sawyer: Hey yourself. In "To Kill a Mockingbird", Scout says "Hey yourself" when Dill says "Hey". Possibly referring to the fact that Sawyer reads a lot.
