  • In this we find what happened or as the title says, what kate did. So there are quite a few flashbacks. We see more of Michael typing to Walt via the terminal and we get to see the rest of the film footage, from Mr Eko.

    • The currency used in the ticket transaction includes the colorful U.S. twenty-dollar bill introduced October 9, 2003. However, the flashback takes place in 2001.

    • A deleted scene shows Libby first introducing herself to Claire. Libby compliments Aaron and then surprises Claire by informing her that she is wearing her shirt. Libby tells Claire that it looks good on her and that she should keep it.

    • Evangeline Lilly (Kate) had to learn how to open a Zippo with one hand for the flashback scene where Kate is sitting on her porch stairs waiting for her father to come home.

    • Numbers: Kate used $42 to buy a ticket to Tallahassee.

    • Goof: Kate's father's desk nameplate reads the rank of Sergeant, but his rank according to his uniform is Sergeant Major.

    • This is the second episode that an injured person has woken up and started strangling Kate. The first one was the US Marshal Edward Mars in the season one episode entitled Tabula Rasa.

    • When Charlie is talking to Kate about her possibly seeing a ghost (the horse), he says, "I've seen polar bears, I've seen monsters - well, heard monsters..." It is interesting to note that in the very next episode he does get to see the monster on the Island close up.

    • Numbers: 23 After Kate is attacked by Sawyer, Jack and Locke run into the hatch, and Locke runs to the computer. When he gets there the clock is at 23 seconds.

    • At the cafe, the 1962 song The End Of The World by Skeeter Davis, is played.

    • On the shelf near the bed with Sawyer, there are 2 books: -Hindsight by Peter Wright. -After All These Years by Susan Isaacs.

    • Book: Lord of the Flies Charlie mentions that the Tailies had gone "all Lord of the Flies", this is an allusion to the book by William Golding where a group of school boys crash land on a remote island and quickly descend into barbarism.

    • Many Biblical scholars believe that the book of the Law found by King Josiah was in fact the the book of Deuteronomy (the 5th book of the Bible). This extends the allusions to books of the Bible within the series, such as the episode titles "Numbers", "Exodus", etc.

    • Episode Title: "What Kate Did" - The title of this episode may be a reference to What Katy Did, the classic children's book written by Susan Coolidge and published in 1872. However, the November 28, 2005 Official Lost Podcast states that creators Lindelof and Cuse were simply responding to the question, "What did Kate do?"
