  • Quotes (4)

    • Mildred: Don't you read the paper?
Billie: I try to, but my work gets in the way.

    • Ferguson: I was talking to Bishop Kroger the other day. He was telling me about the patron saint of us money raisers. He said that if Saint Francis of Assisi were alive today, he'd better own a set of golf clubs.

    • Mrs. Pynchon: Which am I, Mr. Hume? The rock or the hard place?

    • Lou: You know what happens to newspaper guys who live for their work?
      Rossi: What?
Lou: They end up with two furnished rooms in Long Beach, eating macaroni dinners, wearing white shirts and suit pants that are baggy in the seat. Don't end up like that, Rossi.
